Time to put her up for the winter (lightweight NC winter)

What am i missing gentlemen.....

- replace water wetter with coolant
- bike on front and rear stands
- battery tender or disconnect battery?
- cover
- fresh oil
- bring suit in the house, apply some type of leather preservative
- start shopping for winter specials on tires

What else?

My main thing is getting antifreeze back in the race bikes. Other than that, your list looks good. One of mine has all the body work and tank off and they have been sent off to get painted as well as get a dent removed from the tank (May mis-hap ). I'll get the oil changed soon, but no hurries as I only have one practice day and one race day on it (usually go 3). If you keep your boots, spare fluids that can freeze, helmet, or the like in your trailer - I'd bring those in too.

I bring the race bikes into the garage for the winter and put the dirt bikes out in the race trailer at that time... then go for more riding, staying in shape for the off season (when the winter permits).

If you race, bring in your transponder too... charge it once a month. I actually bring in my tire warmers too... just to ensure no mousies get ahold of them.

Interested in this thread. Did I understand that correctly: you change the oil now before the winter? Also, battery tender or disconnect?

That was more of a question? I had change it ever 4 track days. I've heard both thoughts on winter storage, both before and after. I will probably wait until after.

Top off your tank with gas so it doesn't collect moisture.

Maybe put fuel stabilizer in so it doesn't break down and gunk up FI system. Although ~4 months probably isnt enough time for it to go bad.

If you have race fuel in, drain it and run street gas for a few minutes to clean out your injectors. Leaving race gas unused for a month is death to injectors.

I usually add a fuel stabilizer to a full tank of gas to prevent the break down of the gas and keep the moisture out. I will usually just plug the battery tender once a month or so to keep the battery topped off.

I've always done it before storage so the parts aren't sitting in oil that contains acidic byproducts from combustion.

This is also the reason I don't advocate starting occasionally once it's "stored." Until it can be ridden, and all components brought up to normal operating temperatures, it's best left off and completely full of fuel.
