If you can borrow a trailer or have one, prepping the night before just makes it less stressful the morning of. The first track day is a bit stressful just due to the unknown. But rest assured, there are MANY folks there that are more than willing to help, just stop at their pits, say hi, and let them know this is your first time and you have some questions, need some help, etc. Most folks there are extremely helpful and nice.
If you can't get a trailer, just get to the track right when they open... around here it is 7:00am. Take a roll of painters tape with you and some torx tools. When you get there, make sure your air pressures in your tires are aired down a little to be "track appropriate".
With a trailer, you can take extra things like chairs, canopy, air tank, tools, cooler, etc. Take advantage of the control riders out there, they are not only there to monitor and help with downed riders, but also there to help folks with lines, technique, etc. Just find one of them and ask them for help too.
And most of all - relax and have fun! And as an FYI - it is VERY addicting
