Default Track day info/help

This may seem like the stupidest question but I was planning on joining up some schools down in Florida and well I don't have a race bike but only my s1k, how do you guys get it to the track with all the stuff that needs to be taped? Do you haul it there, take it and tape it there? Please any help would be highly appreciated. Also if you could please share any advise on making this process easier, race fairing..don't know something around that area

Most track days/schools want you to tape/cover the headlight lenses, tail light, and turn signal lights. Tape mirrors or remove--mostly to keep you looking forward and not behind you but also to keep glass off of the track.

The lights on the S1K are all plastic but every track day I've gone to still want them taped even if you can turn them off or unplug them.

You can actually ride the bike to the track, remove the license plate bracket that also holds the rear turn signals, unplug the tail light, unplug the front lights and tape, remove or tape the front turn signals, and remove the mirrors. The tools needed to do all that are in your toolkit but nicer/better tools will make it easier. So you can essentially ride the bike to the track from street legal, take off the components and bring some painters tape to cover the front lights and the tail light.

the track day organizer should have all the info you need to get you start with their own requirments

my preference is:

do all my requirement prepping the night before i take off,

hauling over there a night before, get a good night sleep

eat a light and good breakfast, things can help you concentrate

during mid -day you should have things figure out for yourself

drink lots of water, and some food to keep you energized

if possible, bring a friend, I always go with a group of atleast 4...

FYI

Thanks for the replies, that gives me a good idea of whats typically done. I was also looking for race fairings which omit all these glass/plastic parts that need to be taped. One last thing, by unplugging all the lights or any light, the bike will throw an error or fault light on the display? which im guessing should go away once the lights are plugged back in?

Yes, any error codes thrown due to unplugging any lights will go back to normal once plugged in and the switch cycled again.

For your first time out to the track, I wouldn't drop the coin on race plastics just yet. Who knows, you may opt to get a dedicated track bike or go a different route... If you can borrow a trailer or have one, prepping the night before just makes it less stressful the morning of. The first track day is a bit stressful just due to the unknown. But rest assured, there are MANY folks there that are more than willing to help, just stop at their pits, say hi, and let them know this is your first time and you have some questions, need some help, etc. Most folks there are extremely helpful and nice.

If you can't get a trailer, just get to the track right when they open... around here it is 7:00am. Take a roll of painters tape with you and some torx tools. When you get there, make sure your air pressures in your tires are aired down a little to be "track appropriate".

With a trailer, you can take extra things like chairs, canopy, air tank, tools, cooler, etc. Take advantage of the control riders out there, they are not only there to monitor and help with downed riders, but also there to help folks with lines, technique, etc. Just find one of them and ask them for help too.

And most of all - relax and have fun! And as an FYI - it is VERY addicting
