They could probably do a little better at handling the trolls. I seem to spot a lot of spam on the forum before mods get to it. Maybe it's the time difference. Overall decent job but threads to tend to spiral out of control before a mod takes care of it.

You guys have a great site here, one which I don't mind donating to. As phatgixer said, I'd like to see some control with the trolls. It's understood that everyone is welcome on the forum but, when someone is a clear non-contributor, they need to be confronted. This is the first forum in 15 years that I have added someone to my ignore list.
Other than that, carry-on......

Thanks for the feedback. The mod team here is fantastic and like all internet sites, trolls are the constant thorn in our side. We do our best to wipe them out but if we miss one, don't be shy about using the "report post" icon in the thread so we'll know.

Admins/Mods are indeed great on this site.
Other then that "Stew" guy. He is a real Pain in the A#$@.
LOL... J/K
We have been sponsoring 7 of VS sites over the past 7 + years.
Never have we seen an Admin so.. "Neutral" and "Fair" as big D is.
Even when he buys parts from a company, he doesn't go to bed with them, like some Mods. do.
That's impressive.
But as one member said.. "Not sure if they have been battle tested yet"
This Forum is much more mature then most. Avg. Member is probably about 10-15 years OLDER then other forums.
Try and Mod some of the younger forums. THen you will be battle tested for sure. Like Stew.

I'm not very experienced with online forums, and don't really know the hierarchy of the various people who post here. When I see the Administrator I do assume that is God talking. I've really appreciated the contributions of the Super Moderator 1000RR and his even handed tone with both posters who have attitude, and those who aren't so knowledgeable. Plus he promotes discussion, which I suppose is part of his job, but he does it well. And since he phrased his question to exclude mention of what the Administration does with regard to membership, I won't get into the exclusion of Dan Kyle....... But just a short comment from a low participation member, that seemed odd to me.

I just read the technical stuff on here and don't wander into off topic or anything like that, but seems to be a very friendly and helpful staff from what I can see. Good job in my book.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I appreciate the candor and constructiveness. The points brought up for possible improvement areas are certainly noted. Trolls are a challenge since they can appear in plenty of different forms. My intent is certainly not to have them wandering around wreaking havoc on an otherwise fairly good forum. At the same time, I don't want to ban someone just because they don't own an S1000RR. As far as stepping in the middle of some of the disputes, as Rainman mentioned - I try and let folks vent a bit, but if it starts to turn into attacking each other, I draw the line. The end result I'm hoping for is that this forum doesn't turn into one of those other ones we've probably all visited where it seems nothing good happens, just a bunch of whining, bitchng, and name calling.
So, with that... if you see something going on that seems to be troll-like, go on and "report" the post, as the Admin mentioned. I think someone also mentioned some occasional SPAM that comes in. Same there... "report" the post ASAP. The time difference from Europe (if you're from over there) to here certainly affects when you'll see it disappear, but in general, we take care of that pretty quick.
Thanks again for everyone's support and comments!
D

nice fair site that offers a fair amount of decent info with little drivel and spite to water it down
most sites the mods are friends and or pals of the super mods or former owners meaning they pick and choose their moderation based on who sells and who buys what their pal sells or buys, vert conflict of interest IMO
good job on here D

You meet the nicest people on a BMW forum....
Almost wish everyone was just a wee-bit more immature!
Some threads are just begging fer a lil' debauchery!
.....but no worries....I know where to get my fix!
Keep up the great work!
