Default lamp warning light

i went to the dealer today to have them remove the lamp light that comes on when u remove the plate and turn signals. they asked me " can that really be done" they said they had never heard of it. they sent me away saying they didnt have time to look into it today and to come back tomorrow. there was not one bike in the service bays i just think they had no idea how to do it. should i be worried? all they sell is BMW, how do they not know how to work on a bike they sell.

You have to add load resistors or re-connect the turn signals wrap them aluminum foil and tuck them in the tail.

Did you remove them for the track? If so if u disconneceted the light & don't hit the turn signal switch or use the back brake pedal that error won't come on. At least on my bike they won't. I don't use back brakes on track

? disconnected ind's and rear lamp for a track day, error came up soon as i flicked ignition on. Reconnected just the rear lamp and error stayed off unless i hit the ind button but reset after off/on with ign....

This was posted by viperclaw. I took a copy of it to my dealer and voila, 5 minute job and no more light warnings. Good Luck.

They have to use the MOSS PC. Go into ISTA P, the programming part. Go to Vehicle and then go to CKM--car key memory. Scroll to the bottom and check the last box, says something like lamp check feature. There are two boxes in this subgroup and the first is the factory setting. Have them choose the second box which will turn the self check function off. Click on the lower right box at the bottom of the screen, should be a Continue or Accept measures plan. Then exit programming.

I've been lurking and not posting much but I've seen you in all the important (IMO) threads.

Thanks for the info. I went to my dealer today and they did not know this was possible . I showed the service tech the protocol listed here, and a few minutes later I was all done. Works great. The tech said to pass on thanks for the info.
