Default Electrical Gremlins

Took the bike out to the track for the first time today and experienced a few electrical gremlins.

The first session the bike would stumble and fall on its face (7k and above learning fwd). Found the problem; partially kinked main fuel line when I had the tank of last week.

Session two; no problems.

Session three; after 10 laps the bike felt like it went into "limp home mode" where the bike wouldn't rev normal and almost sounded like it was down a cylinder. Came into pits, recycled bike (off/on) and bike seemed fine. Rode 3 more laps to finish session.

Session four; no problems.

Session five; session three's problems were back. Same fix.

Session six; no problems.

I do have the Bazzaz and Z-AFM (auto tune) installed. GS-911 did t pull any fault codes beside the normal ones for the stock exhaust being removed. BTW...no check engine lights were displayed and the bike would rev above 2k but VERY VERY slowly. Anyone have any ideas?

Overall the bike was great (when it ran normally). No issues with the stock Conti Attack tires on a track I had never been to. Still ran only 8 sec off track record. With race tires, learning the track and bit of suspension work I hope to give the Sicilian riders all they can handle.

Thanks for the help!

what kind of fuel are you running...i know a guy who had similar types of problems running a high octane biofuel that the fuel pump didn't agree with

Normal fuel I have been running here in Sicily. It is the 95 RON octane.

Maybe double check your TPS connection on the bazzaz too?! Check your o2 sensor for the z-afm... make sure it is good too.

TPS was good and the Bazzaz software shows the TPS and O2 sensor as good. I was also getting map adjustments as expected.

Still scratching my head. Thinking maybe the throttle servo. Going to tear the bike apart again tomorrow.

Before you go any farther remove the Bazzaz unit and try it again. We had the same problems when we were testing at Sears Point before a AFM race, we raced it the next day with the stock stuff and it was fine. After that we installed the HP program, worked great the rest of the year and we won the Open GP title for the year.

I would rather not remove the Bazzaz system. I'm not looking to install the HP program. If this is a no kidding Bazzaz problem, wouldn't more people have the issue? I am going to shoot an email to Bazzaz and see if they know of a problem. I did take the time to change the ground on the Bazzaz to the battery as I have read that caused inconsistent TPS settings.

The fault is also hard to duplicate. In the pits it runs fine. Some sessions it runs fine the entire time and sometimes it's half way thru it messes up. This leads me to think its a loose wire or connection, but not sure. It's frustrating to see track time go by while your chasing an electrical problem.
