Default Starting Issues - Problems

Hello folks,

I was hoping someone has more info or a better idea than I do with a starting issue we are having with one of our race bikes. Let me preface this with we are ver proficient with all Japanese and Ducati machines and we just received the BMW's this season and are learning daily. FYI -Both bikes have Bazzaz Z-FI and no tip over switch.

Problem 1 - Solved

Originally we had our "A" bike crashed which damaged the instrument cluster but the bike still fired and ran once we repaired it. Part of the LCD was unreadable so we ordered a replacement but had not mounted it yet. After getting to the track that weekend before practice the bike would not start and had no display, so we started swapping items, bazzaz, relays, etc, off our "B" bike, and finally ended up swapping to the new cluster, but it would still not work. So after further checking I ended up swapping the Triple with Imobilizer and ECU to the "A" bike and it fired up right away. Later diagnoses i found that below the kew switch there are 2 plugs one for imobilizer ring and another I suspect is an ignition module. Once swapping back to the original "A" ECU and Triple and using the "B" ingnition module everything worked perfect and we raced the weekend.

Problem 2 - Unsolved - No Codes

After returning to the shop we began reassembling and replacing the original components on the "B" bike and once completed the bike would turn on try to fire but would not run. So I started double and triple checking everything and at this point am stalled. The fuel pump primes but it doesnt run. I proceeded to swap everything including tanks between both bikes and all components work on bike "A" but on "B" it will not run. Is there a possibility that there is a mating issue with some of the components. i figured that if bike "B" components mated then we woudlnt have been able to run them on bike "A". Any way have been agonizing over this for days and hoped someone may have ideas.

Thanks
David

I wasn't quite clear on what was swapped replaced etc... but if you have an ECU with a cluster that did not come w/the bike, you're gonna need to have the Dealer program the ECU to accept the new cluster... Again, not sure which bike has what parts, etc.

Originally we took the "B" bike ecu and key / triple and put it on the "A" bike with a used cluster we got from EBAY and it worked fine. Now we put the original ECU and key / triple back on the "B" bike with the "B" cluster and it wont run. Trys to but wont kick. "B" bike cluster works.

I'm surprised it work when it did. If I remember right the ecu and the clusters are matched that's why u need to take bike to the dealers to have the ecu linked to a replacement cluster and the bike wouldn't run till that was done. I guess I was wrong
