Default Throttle spring tension

Has anyone reduced the amount of spring tension in the throttle? Or had the bike apart enough to have looked at the assembly?

It never bothered me riding hard or at the track. But the other day I went for a more relaxed ride with a 'learner rider' and also recently on the freeway. I found that it wasn't so much the vibes coming through the bars that was a pain, but the fact the throttle has so much spring tension it is difficult to maintain a light grip.
Jumping onto my brothers Gsxr1000k8 the difference was huge! Throttle was very light.

Any ideas? Does it have two springs? A main and a back up? Just one strong spring etc?

Any help would be appreciated before I pull it apart to investigate.

I think this is the worst part of the bike for me. Weaker return spring would be great. Have you found anything out yet?

I solved this problem by fitting a speed controller. Although this is only a solution when riding a longer distance, not really for short rides.
I know this solution and maybe fitting a Accossato quarter throttle means throwing money at a problem, which I for one is not always able to do.
So I hope someone has a better solution that wont involve a visit to the bank.

I noticed this also and am curious as to any adjustments that can be made. I found myself fighting the (forced) rolloff.

Dont know but I do put it in rain mode if I am going for a relaxed ride. The throttle is smoother accelerating but not when I let go of it.

While it COULD just be my imagination, I think the 2010 model had a MUCH more forgiving return mechanism. I don't recall it being as stiff as the 2011, YMMV though.

A old thread was talked about on this ... some racers have more control with a softer throttle , and it was cut down or changed out .
