Default If I drop one tooth off the front

will my wheelies be any better???

So far my wheelies have been a bit crap so i'm hoping that a 16 on the fr sprocket will help me get hoisting - am I deluded??? If not I'm sure the bike will spin up a bit better anyway.

If you're not looking for ultimate top end and are OK w/160-ish, I'd say go with a -1, +2. You'll like it a lot. A -1 on the front is a great mod by itself. It will also make "in town" driving better. At those 35-45 mph speeds you'll be better suited for 2nd gear instead of wandering between 1st and 2nd. The bike will get lighter sooner w/these mods.

Yip - sounds good. I have no need of 160+ - UK speed restrictions are awful but I could definitely use a bit more go

Standard gearing promotes front wheel antics at will, -1 i found is too flighty, more up is less forwood. Track days i was short shifting so changed back to standard. Tis good fun tho !!!!!

I tried it and didn't like it. I still have the sprocket with less than 500miles on it if you're interested.

Mixed opinions means I'll give it a go and see if i like it or not - not the end of the world if I dont.

i'd say it'll obviously hurt your mileage, but if your concern is wheelies, i'm guessing you're not too concerned about driving 'green'. i did the sprocket mods for the aprilia and went to a lighter chain, and it made a nice difference on that, but can't imagine doing it on the s1k. although i'm sure it would be fun at times, i'd have to ride on the handle bars to keep orange lights from flashing.
