Default What is there to be done to improve torque down low?

I feel that my ZX10r had more torque from 5K to 9K, what is there to be done beside PCV, where can I send my ECU to get it done? I dont want piggy backs.

tks.

Full pipe, PCV and a couple of hours on the dyno? Or just shift down a few gears.

My '08 CBR seemed pretty stout in the lower/mid range. After putting a full exhaust and a PCV on the S1, I don't think my CBR had/has anything on her now.

The fly by wire makes it hard to do a proper tune under 9,000 rpm's until the secondaries fully open up. Flash it

Indeed! Very cheap mod to get quite a bit more acceleration. You loose top end, so if you're still wanting to hit 190, not gonna happen. I went to a -1, +2 and absolutely love it. Can still hit 160 or so, but not typically up there anyway.

Does it wheelie more with -1, +2 gearing?
Did you have to add links back into the chain after changing to -1, +2 ?
Thx

Nothing needs to be done w/the chain. You can keep your stock chain and length. The bike is going to want to get lighter sooner w/the gearing change but nothing that's not manageable.

I often wonder why this option does not occur to more S1000RR riders, skapan. With 14,200 RPM on hand, it seems there is plenty of power available if you get the revs up. The 6-4 downshift doesn't take very long and will likely get you into the hysterical zone pretty quickly. (Disclaimer: I'm an old man well past my prime "go fast" years.)

That said, -1 on the front sprocket might be just the thing to give you the feel you're looking for. Both methods accomplish the same thing--increase the RPM for a given velocity. My problem with that strategy is that it's much like losing sixth gear which increases fuel mileage as well as top speed and even decreases engine noise in some situations.

You want more grunt? Stay in lower gears longer. If you really need more power, then a PCV and exhaust is the next step.
