I just posted this reply in the General Discussion section, side stand removal, and don't know how to give you a link to it, so I dragged it over here to answer your question. To me the side stand switch looks well designed, and built, so I doubt it is the cause of the problem you're having with engine shut down on hard acceleration. But, anything is possible and maybe doing this will solve it..... good luck with it.

It is a simple solution and perhaps that's why no one has bothered to post it, but little things like this can be difficult if you over think them. BMW in its wisdom has put three wires to the sidestand switch, white, red, and beige. I cut the wires mid way from the switch to the connector under the tank so it wouldn't be too difficult to reconnect them if I want to put the bike back on the street. The switch connects the white and red wires when the sidestand is down, and the white and beige wires when it's up. Oh, and just unplugging the connection under the tank won't help, you need to connect the white and beige to allow the bike to start and run while in gear. I made the final connections and was puzzled that the bike wouldn't start in gear with the clutch pulled. The clutch switch needed a slight adjustment and everything has worked fine after that.

I bought the Alpha Racing resistor package to remove all the lights and kickstand without errors on the dash. Not cheap but it works.

No resistors needed, just connect the white and beige wires, protect them and the red wire from the weather and you're good to go.

Back in January of this year, Viperclaw posted an easy and cheap solution to the other minor inconvenience of the dash fault codes displayed when you disconnect your headlights, turn signals, and brake light for track use. I had the dealer do this and it's very simple and quick for him to do. Here it is....

You can have the lamp error turned off by the dealer. They can do it using the PC MOSS--not the GT1 unit. Pretty sure it is in the "programming" area and the Car Key Memory sub heading if they say they don't know what you are talking about. It is at the bottom of that menu. There is now an option to have it disabled so that you can be in any Mode and the error won't show.

Doubt they will do it for free but it may be cheaper than the plug system. Might take half an hour tops to do and probably less.

I have done it to mine. I can now install non-Can Bus friendly LED running lights with no error message. You just have to check your lights before you ride--like you should anyways.
