Default New software cutting power?

So, I got my bike tuned at a local shop over the weekend, and I was asking the tech why my power curve seemed to flatten out around 8500 compared to other S1000s I saw. He said that all of the S1000s that he's run that have had maintenance AFTER around Christmas of 2010 have the same curve as me. The ones that were serviced BEFORE Christmas 2010 have a different/higher curve. It has nothing to do with the bike model year, which may indicate that it is something software-related that the dealer has changed. He even showed me the results from a guy that had the same bike dynoed before that period and then after he had gotten the maintenance, and you could clearly see the difference in power delivery.

Has anyone heard of anything like this? The guy said that he's tried to ask the local BMW dealer about it but they won't tell him anything.

There has been quite the speculation about this but no proof to back it up until now, maybe. Post up the graphs so everyone could see the difference.

Well, mine was built in March 2011 and made 180+ wHP with 1000 miles on her, completely stock.

Could be a high reading dyno which it probably is. Me and another member both put down 171 within .05 of each other on the SAME dyno. What he is saying that on the SAME dyno his tuner saw a difference in curve that would validate that long spread rumor of decreased power on the later years, if he has the graph's to prove it.

It's my dyno. STD correction (kinda, actually ISO) (178 SAE). I dyno'd a 2010 the other day and it made 173 STD.

Seems that my dyno is a little more conservative that most. I've tuned several bikes that have come from other shops and my readings are about 2% lower.

R35, you're exactly right. It's the SAME bike, on the SAME dyno. Regardless of the whp reading, the point is that the same bike on the same dyno should be consistent with itself.

I need to go by the shop on Saturday anyway. I'll see if I can get the guy to email me the dyno graphs so I can post them.
