You asking about oil or air filter? Get ready for some spirited discussion. Personally I give the benefit of the doubt to the people that designed the bike - they know best, and why risk warranty issues? When I have tried other products I have not noticed any improvement, and sometimes have experienced reduced performance as a result, however this was not on the S1000RR.
Others will tell you that K&N air filters clog everything up with that oil they use, and some will say that the K&N oil filters do not have the necessary pressure valves/paper count to work properly.
And others will tell you that K&N products are fantastic, and they use them on everything they own.

Your bike, your choice.

+1 to skapan

I personally run K&N on everything I have ever owned. simply bc with air filters I like being able to clean and reuse them instead of continually buying new ones. If you clean and oil them properly I havn't seen any actual proof of people having problems with them. Otherwise my car and jeep both see better gas mileage than they did before. the car did gain a good bit of go from the K&N cold air set up.

As for the filter on the bike, I havn't noticed any power gains/losses since I replaced the stock filter at the 6000mile service. the sticker looks pretty good on the side of the bike though. haha

Are you racing? If not, save your time and money imo.

Thanks for all the feedback! It was for the k&n race air filter. No I dont race I just want the best bang for the buck. Since the price between the regular and race versions are just acouple of dollars. I guess I'll buy the street bmc or k&n then.

So far I've bought:
ARCS gp3 Exhaust
Bazzaz fuel module

now gonna use the K&N filter
So I'm hopeful for good results on the dyno!! I know my bike made 182hp on the dyno straight stock!!!
