Default Clutch Cable

Hey everyone. I'm new here as I just got a 2010 1000rr. I've had it for a week & love it, but I'm out riding the other day & I'm at a stop light attempting to get moving.I pull in the clutch & the lever comes back to the clip on & bike shuts off. The clutch cable snapped at the engine(never had this happen on any other bike in 20 years). I called the dealer & they will replace under warranty. Could there possibly be any other damage caused when this happened?

Should not be any other issues. Report back with what the dealer finds. This is an unusual failure.

I am working on a replacement here. I indent to remove the clutch cable. I 'll be using a mountain bike oil brake, that will push the outside clutch spring. Problem is the tiny space down there. And the time i don't have

and this is what i am going to use

My clutch cable came within about 2 strands of snapping at the engine. It seemed to happen very quickly; one day it was fine and the next it would barely engage. Made it back to the stealer without snapping where it was replaced under warranty.

I like the idea of the hydraulic clutch as well. One point on your bicycle part, typically brakes only move a couple of millimeters, while the clutch actuation lever appears to move substantially more than that. There are BMW motorcycles that have hydraulic clutches, it might be easier to retrofit those units than try to make that bicycle unit work. You could also source a used hydraulic clutch unit from a salvage yard (some are on the internet).

Good Luck, I would like to see this work.

Love to see a hydraulic clutch on this bike, tbh, it bloody well should have one for it`s price tag..and god wouldn`t it be nice not to have that almighty clatter when engaging first gear and others...and not having to explain to fellow riders (yep this is normal)

And your hydraulic clutch lever will have to accommodate the micro switch...

OK. I did some research. Didn't know they already exist. Mostly for ATV and dirt bikes.
Found this little garbage. I'll buy and keep the slave cylinder. So cheap after all

The micro switch on the Prime master cylinder will be easy to fit
