Default TOP SPEED!?!?!?!?!

Performance mods: Akro full exhaust, pwr cmdr, bmc air filter, 520 chain... bike dyno'd at 189 rwhp.

I had quite a few opportunities a few months back to really test out the top end of my bike with some never ending straights and I've seen some videos of the S1 ragged out in 6th and the spedometer hitting 196. Long story short my S1 only hits 178 ragged out in 6th and doesnt seem to keep climbing once there. I had it pegged for a good bit on multiple ocassions. Wondering if anyone else has seen their top end?

I know my 520 would play a role here, but if anything shouldnt it give me a overly high reading on my spedometer instead of something more accurate? I had a friend who also was with me on his GSXR and he says hes been clocked with radar at 180. So I'm pretty sure my spedometer is spot on. How is that possible? I didn't put a speedohealer on the bike.

If your bike has ABS this is where the speed is taken from - gearing will not affect it.

Also,'520' is the pitch of the chain and does not affect absolute speed (maybe it will reduce weight/drag and give you another 1 rpm ).

If your bike is hitting the limiter in 6th while indicating less than 180 you must have changed the gearing and have a non-abs model.

It definately has ABS, but and I dont know if this plays a role, it has been acting up and I'm almost certain its not working. I put on a brembo master and after a few months my brake light came on. I took it in to the dealership and they couldnt fix it over the course of a few days and I didn't have the time to wait for them to play operation. Also my elevation changed a lil bit few thousand feet and im around 250lbs.

I think I just went down 1 tooth in the front. Im gonna have to check to be sure.

Absolute speed has a ton of variables, from drivers position to weather conditions to road conditions to elevation. Driver's postion can make 10 mph difference, heck just your foot position can make 2-3 mph difference.

Did you have your mirrors attached?

Yeah I had mirrors on... Even though I barely get a chance to peg the bike out I was upset that I wasnt screaming past my buddies GSXR in 6th gear, granted he has about 20k into his bike so its not that much of a dissappointment.

First the BMW doesn't pass 186 on the speedo and I'm pretty sure no Jap bike does. My bike put down 175 and it red lines 6th gear @ 191 GPS. Im 6'1 @220 and it's very difficult for ME to get behind the wind screen COMPLETELY so I imagine that has a lot do with it. Your helmet needs to be on the tank and have only 3/4 inch to see out the top of the visor when your down that low. On a side note what do you think these bikes lose through the drivetrain in terms of power, 6%,8% or 11-15% like a car?

If you are after top speed, why have you down geared it?

Standard gearing(17/44)will allow 195mph at 14k
-1 front (16/44) 183mph " "
-1 front,+1 rear (16/45) 179mph " "
-1 front,+2 rear (16/46) 175mph " "

I hear a 1 down and 1 down on both does a fair job for better pick up but you will lose that monster top end .
