Default Different OEM wiring on two stock harnesses

Here's the deal (this has nothing to do with the main harness btw)

I am changing out the throttle bodies due to an intermittant failure within the throttle valve servo (which comes with the bodies).

The wire lead that comes from the front of the throttle servo motor on the bike now has six pins. The female side of the connection (which gets routed to the ECU) only has 5 wires out. This is the connector on the aft, top left of the ECU infront of the tank vent). The orange one is capped off at the terminal bock in the connector, so basically, this wire connection goes nowhere.

When looking at the replacement throttle body assembly the same wire bundle/lead from the throttle valve servo only has the 5 pins with the same one that is ommitted from the ECU side of the harness not installed.

My guess would be a change in manufacturing process?...whereby they decided to leave the run off one side, then off the other lead at another date?....

This was a little alarming at first as I though I was missing something, a pin ...but they never used that spot on the connector. When I realised there was nothing for the 6th pin to connect to anyway I figured it's fine.

I haven't finished the install yet but will do that today.

Of course, without a wiring schematic It's hard to know what the wire goes to anyway.

Is there any reason why BMW wouldn't supply me with a wiring schematic for this area at least?

Tell me which connector and pin number and I can look it up for you. Won't be able to until Monday.

You are talking about the connectors to the ECU? Is it the larger connector or the smaller one--"gang" plug. The pins are numbered on the connector. They may be on the outside by the wire or on the inside face where the pins come out. They will also be numbered on the inside face of the ECU.

Ok. Just to clarify, it is not the huge big connectors on the right of the ECU from the riders view. The connection I am referring to actually connects on the upper, left hand aft corner of the ECU. It doesn't plug into the ECU however, just snaps into a retaining clip on the side, runs right next to the main harness.

The lead runs from the connector down to the throttle valve servo, the most inboard sensor/lead. It then connects where i mentioned before and the harness then runs into the engine harness. The stock one that the bike had had 6 pins on the connector on the lead to servo side. It has the orange blank over where the pin would be for the harness side. The replacement servo and throttle body has 5 pins on the servo lead side of the connector.

There is now no need for the entire wire as it does nothing on both side of the connector.

The bikes runs good and I took it for a run down the street!!

I am a mechanic and would love to read the wiring schematic to make sense of what I saw.

Thanks for any help.
