OEM Quickshifter

I had noticed in the last few weeks that my quickshift has been playing up a wee bit........wouldn't change up......you would hit the lever and the ignition cuts (slightly longer than usual) but the cogs won't swap......this is a bit disconcerting when you are nipping on, it's a bit like hitting the brakes mid acceleration :-S

So

Prior to my run with a mate yesterday, I gave her a wash, adjusted the chain (30mm slack) and lubed it :-)

It was a different machine......clean, quick changes, never missed a beat......250 miles of hard riding, if I had not adjusted the chain I would have expected at least 1 possibly 2 QS miss-shifts on that run

My conclusion is now that the bike is very sensitive to chain conditions, a slack chain seems to play havoc with the quickshifter for some reason.

How many people with shift issues have tried tensioning the chain to the tighter limit to see how it runs?

That makes a lot of sense. All chain driven bikes I've owned have always shifted so much better when the chain is properly adjusted. If it's too slack the gearbox feels really notchy. I wonder if as you say, all those experiencing QS problems have properly tensioned chains.
