Default Read this important safety notice..faulty rear wheel

My s1000rr has just had the rear wheel changed because the wheel bearings were machined off center. This caused the sprocket carrier bearing to fail. This could have been fatal if the chain had snapped or come off.

luckily a friend who was riding behind me spotted the carrier wobbling from side to side.

You can check your bike by putting it on a paddock stand and running the bike in second gear. If the sprocket carrier wobbles take it straight to the dealer.

BMW wont replace my chain even though its obvious the fault has caused accelerated wear.

I would check your wheel. If you have a look at the casting where the bearing fits see if its central, and put it on a paddock stand and see if the carrier moves.

it could go again.

Hi, where exactly should we be looking for and how much of a wobble is acceptable or not?
Thanks

I just had a sprocket housing bearing fall apart. I received a whole new sprocket assembly from my dealer. Was wondering why this happened?
