Default HP race kit dyno results.

Did few runs on a dyno last weekend. Needless to say, wasn't very happy with the results. Rear tire kept slipping on the dyno so it had to be strapped very tight. Two other beemers did 174hp to the wheel, they had akra full exhaust on them only.

Outside temp during the dyno was around 39c with relative humidity at 12%, so it was a warm day. Looks to me that it's running very rich. I wonder if there's anyway to adjust the fuelling on the HP race ecu?

That thing is HUGELY rich. You cannot make any sort of HP with it running at 10.x:1 a/f. Its loosing 15-20 hp like that! There is something wrong. You need to check the ECU software flash (did they do it correctly?). You can change A/F with the calibration kit, but you should NOT be having that problem. Contact the BMW race assist guys. There is definitely something up with your installation!!!!! The others with the race kit all made big gains.

Nigel, any idea who to contact? Local dealer isn't doing anything.

No, not where you are located. You need to contact BMW. What does the dealer say. Surely they can see that there is something wrong!

Looks like a dodgy dyno to me.

Take it a shop that has a proper DynoJet system for a second opinion.

Lube the chain.
Inflate the rear tyre to 42psi.
put it in slick mode.
Turn off the DTC.

Wish you could post the TQ numbers. I could tell more.

and there is something wrong with probably both the flash/ECU and the dyno. If you compair the AFR at 6500 and 8000, you are going from 12.2:1 to 10.6:1. 12.2:1 the bike will make "o.k." power at 10.6:1 it should fall flat on it's face, however the power curve doesn't reflect that at all. When you approach 11:1 AFR, the bike will smoke (black) .... does the bike smoke?

It does fall away sharpish on the top. Up to say 10k it is there or there abouts. then it just does not pick up even though the curve looks normal. That is why I thought there is something wrong with the flash. But a second dyno will confirm for sure. If the others with the AKra and not map are making 174 on that dyno, he should make 180.

Just a thought, what fuel was in the bike at the time of the dyno?

Haven't seen the bike pushing black smoke, I'll have to check on that. Petrol used on the dyno was 97 RON. I'll post a comparison dyno result later from the other beemers from the same day. Torque curve added now.

Did you have it on the dyno before the HP kit?
