Default 600 mi maint. and slick mode.

Is there any point in installing the slick mode plug prior to the 600mi maintenance? Will it make any difference?

Argh, I hate that stupid rev limiter.

No difference, besides having a flashy red plug under the seat, until the limiter is removed.

Ah, I suspected as much. Thanks. I might stick it in there this afternoon anyway, just so I don't lose it between now and Saturday.

It won't affect the rev limiter but all the other aspects of slick mode vs. other modes will be in place - less aggressive ABS/DTC, rear wheel lockups allowed, more lean angle allowed before throttle intervention, etc.

There is no reason to postpone installing the plug unless you want the dealer to do it during the first service since they'll be mucking around with the bike anyway.

Ok then, another question. Do you guys know if BMW auto dealers are authorized to do the 600mi maintenance? Or would that be a terrible idea?

Same with Mini which is built by BMW. No cross-servicing, at least no factory authorized cross servicing or warranty repairs.

There are a number of combined BMW motorcycle and car dealers and, of course, they work on both.

I work for a BM dealer which hold's both Car and Motorrad franchises.
I have been trained on both cars and bikes.
We have a seperate work area for bikes and all warranty / admin is seperate.

Working on bikes is much more fun and less hassle :-)
