Default doing away with ABS

So my bike has DTC ABS, and I'm finding I don't care much for the ABS and linked brakes. What it the best way to go about ditching the ABS? Also, is anyone using braided hoses?

I also ride an Aprilia rsvr, and had a Duc 1098, and feel the brakes on those bikes were far better than my s1000.

Thanks guys.

What is it that you don't like about the ABS? Can't you just switch it off?
The bike comes with braided hoses as standard I believe.

I'm looking into the behaviour of the ABS because I'm finding it intrusive on track. It kicks in under hard braking and is very off-putting.

However I find the linked brakes are excellent - the bike is very well behaved under very hard braking, keeping the tail in line with only the very slightest of fishtailing even downhill. It was only when I realised the bike wasn't doing it that I knew the system must work.

I'd like to either desensitise the ABS or disable it but leave the linked brakes, I'm assuming that this is possible and the linked brakes are not managed by the ABS system but I have not checked.

I'm also still unsure if changing gearing could potentially affect the ABS as has been suggested on here. I'm still sceptical, but am going to ask my dealer to check.

I dont think changing the gearing will make any difference to the ABS. It works off wheel speed sensors on the front and rear wheels so the gearing has no effect.

I've heard some say that changing the profile of the tyre could affect the ABS & DTC because you've changed the rolling diameter of the tyre however I believe that the ECU 'learns' the new diameter and compensates as necessary.

My thoughts exactly - just want to make sure.

The ABS seems to kick in just too easily - with a hot track and sticky slicks it is juddering the front end at the end of fast straights. I'm sure I won't stop much earlier without it, but at least it won't feel like the disks are about to explode.

Was talking to one of the coaches at CSS (Lonnie) and he said the ABS was turned off on his bike for similar reasons. Sounded like a simple matter and he was much happier with the consistency and it no longer wanted to let off the brakes on very hard braking, resulting in missed turn-in points.

So, to the OP; what's wrong with simply pressing the little button?

We have installed straight hoses and removed the ABS pump. Brakes are fantastic now.

The ECU will 'learn' and compensate for the new [overall] diameter... but it's the profile of the tire (when leaned over = different diameter) that the ECU may not quite understand and can affect the ABS (with aggressive profiled tires - i.e. steep angled tires). From my understanding this has been in aggressive (track-type) riding... so it may not be an issue for many.
