Default Dyno today

Well I have been promising myself for ages to get to the dyno. My boy has moved premises and only got the dyno relocated on Wednesday (after relocating in Dec!). Anyhow, my 2 close mates and I all have BMW's with PCV's and BMC race filters. The difference with the bikes is that mine has a full Akra shorty, Willie has a full Arrow and Johan a stock header, with deleted cat, new link pipe and Akra short can. Mine was 2 hp stronger than the other 2 (187 vs. 185, 185) but 3nm less than the Arrow (Willie) and 2nm less the the stock header bike (Johan). But my bike was running 11:1 at 6k and 12:1 at 10k so I knew that I had a nm or 2 to gain with the A/T doing it's thing. This all happened when we did the 6 gear map thing on a different dyno on different days last week.

Willie with the Arrow has always had the HP on the dyno. And he lets us know each time (again and again!!). So with this in mind I got myself a drum of MR12 a fact which I kept to the rest of the mates (Willie excluded - I bet him $200 I would get 190 on this dyno (which has always been up to 5 HP stingy compared to the other local DJ250's). Of course he swore like a ***** and said it cannot happen in a million years and added that he would buy us all breakfast if it happened too....hehehe!

Anyhow, Johan is up first. It is a fowl day and just about to rain. Quite cold and probably good for HP. But he makes a string of 179 runs and 1 run of 181.2 (all the planets must have aligned for this one as there were no spikes either). Then Willie. All in the 179's with a best of 179.9. He is grumpy Then mine. As it goes on Willie notices the pipe and comments how much leaner it is burning (the thing looks like I left polish on the pipe haha) and also comments that the fuel smells weird. I did say I filled up with lawnmower fuel so this makes sense to him, hehehehe!! Remember that the stuff costs $300 a drum here so there is very seldom any used. Also we are so high in the clouds, the jury was out anyway as to whether this would work here.
So mine is 191.8 first up off the bat. Willie shits his pants and says immediately over the noise there must be a spike or some other mistake. Next one backs up the 191 and we let is cool down the little. Then a 195 run followed by another high 194 after the cool down. Willie was distraught!! My neighbour has videos and pics, including graphs which I will post up once I get them from him.

Given that the runs on the other 2 bikes were 180 (179.6 and up consistently) and that mine normally made 2 more, it is conceivable that the fuel adds as much as 13hp here mapped (I rode it to the dyno with the fuel autotuning all the way). Willie was so devastated that we decided to share.

We then removed the fuel from my bike and replaced his fuel with the little MR12 that was left. Willies bike then made a solid 190 with the fuel without any mapping. Amazing!! That stuff is AWESOME . On the road there it is simply breathtaking. Nothing prepares you for the difference.

Figures were SAE at 6000ft. Sorry about the scale, should have selected rpm.

Good fuel does make a difference. It's nice that you shared because it could result to a heart attack or a stroke to your friend.

I see you are at 6000 ft. I live in Denver, CO at a mile high and find that MR12 shows a bigger difference to non-oxygenated than when comparing at sea level.

Just something to keep in mind.

Actually, it was payback time for someone who continuously gets into the pissing contest. I would ordinarily not do that kind of thing, especially at the cost .

None the less, here is a better graph. The 35 run is one of mine a while back for comparison. The top 2 runs are with MR12. The 2 15 runs and the 35 run are all with the different pipes. Amazing how close they are to each other!

Can you run that MR12 fuel through the factory cat? I noticed all the bikes noted were sans catalyst.
