Question Wheelie

Hello Im also new in here My name is Elio and i was looking about wheelie post around and i had never done a wheelie i have S1000RR 2011 just got one Light Grey such a nice bike i love it and my questions are that i still do not have the
Mode: Slick since i have to wait untill 600Miles to active it, well i wonder if i could like do wheelie with Race Or Sport mode with the DTC OFF, and like how would you accelerate to get it up, my most scary feel is that the bike flip back all the way and of course hurt my self and also the bike get bad to, so would be nice help about it....

Thanks

Elio Sanchez.

Hi Elio

There is lots of info on Wheelying and wheelies on here, just use the forum 'search'.

but i would advise you NOT to try wheelying in slick mode, because the bike could flip over.

Keep the bike in sport or race mode. the bike will wheelie if you accelerate hard in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears. but the DTC wont let the wheel come up too far.

Judging by your writing you must be a novice rider.
Since your main concern is how to wheely the bike yes you can turn off the DTC and wheely the bike as every other bike.Be careful not to flip the bike!

Kinda sad you don't know more about your bike. Nice garage floor. Just sad a sexy peice of misunderstood machinery is sitting on it. Treat that baby with love. Learn her upside down and inside out. At least know what makes the bike unique and lovely. She is keeping you safe with her highly intelligent brain and your treating her like some community college girl.lol just playing.

I don't know why he should be judged a novice just because he is not experienced in pulling wheelies?

Nor do I think it advisable to suggest to anyone who isn't experienced in wheelying that they turn off DTC before trying one.

Elio, first, if you haven't had the rev limiter removed yet you are not going to be going anywhere far with the front wheel off the ground. Wait until the bike is run so that you can rev the engine enough to develop sufficient power.

To start wheelying, leave the DTC on and set the bike to Sport or Race mode (not Slick). The bike will lift the front wheel a bit in each of the first three gears with just the throttle (no need for the clutch). DTC will place the wheel back on the ground automatically after only a short distance and not too much angle.

After you get used to that experience then you will need to get advice from others here who know how to wheely properly (that isn't me). But I suggest you don't try to wheely on this bike without DTC switched on until you know exactly what you are doing.

I am no wheely expert but this doesn't seem like the bike to be learning how to wheely on.

Good luck.

Read your owner manual. There it will tell you how to turn the DTC on and off. As the others said, don't try to wheelie the bike with DTC off until you have done it a few times with it on.
