Default So who rides with TC/ABS permanently off?

Im just curious that im not getting swept up in the whole electronic mindset. I mean up until I had a K8 Busa i would never had the option or contempleted riding my bike in a varied manner with so many options.

Who rides with all the electronics off all the time??

I like the idea of easy to pop wheelies but dont want to get caught out so is the S1000 so violent that it's impossible to handle with all the electrics off??

T

I've not ridden it without the electronics but I'd imagine that for 90% of the time it's like any other modern litre sportsbike. It will bite your head off if you don't respect it.
I don't know why you would pay the premium for DTC and ABS and then permanently disable it. Save a few quid and buy one without the electronics package.
Personally I like having that safety net because I ride in all weather so I like to know that if I'm riding to work at 7am in the pouring rain on a cold day in January that if a car pulls out on me and I grab a handful of brake the front probably won't tuck. For that one incident the system is wort it IMO.

I've played with all the settings and I pretty much keep it in Slick mode and on occasion Race mode. I like having the electronics it amazes me how it helps the average Joe like myself with riding a bike with so much HP. I've turned everything off a few times just to see how the bike acts and it's not much different than Slick mode. I turn off the electronics when I'm drag racing as they are a hinderance on the drag strip.

I really like the electronics, especially the shift assist and I can't see me riding without them. Try it, it's easy enough to do.

I've never switched it all off yet

I don’t see the point, unless you’re using the bike for competition.
I use Race mode on cooler days, or if I’m just pottering about.

But when the tarmac’s warm and smooth, it’s Slick mode for me.
It allows you to pull some decent power wheelies in the first 3 gears. And the throttle response is instant (almost too instant/snatchy) but I love it

Both are to enhance safety. So when riding through town, commuting to work and back, fun running, breakfast speed runs, its best to keep safety on, for those much unexpected situations that do arise!
But if you are a stunt freak, switch it off, you know you can :-)

say it before. this systems make me forget how to properly ride sb's...relay on them too much lately. But! i have to admit. they saved me more than 5 times in and out of town from an ugly highside...
So, ABS + DTC = No hospital time + repair payments....

There are quite a few threads relating to the DTC anti wheelie.

But in Slick mode, you can hoik a 5 second minger. Some say that the anti wheelie kicks in at 35Deg. or so.
While others say there is no angle limiter, and you can still flip the bike if you're not careful.

But it does give you 5 seconds of fun.

Just install the Slick mode Key, and leave it there. You can then select Slick at any time with the mode button.
