Default quickshifter doesnt work

last week on the way to park the bike at my shop i noticed the qs wasnt working, i'd have to back off the throttle to be able to shift up. i thought maybe it had something to do with my worn out clutch dragging so i parked it waiting for my new clutch pack to arrive. well i just got it today and installed it. now the clutch engages/disengages smoothly but my QS still doesnt cut ignition

Check the clutch switch.

Will it start in gear? Side stand up of course.

hmm, good point. i have my side stand switch bypassed but i'll have to check the clutch switch. is it on the lever or somewhere else? it does not start in gear.

edit: yep just checked it. put the rear up on a stand, in gear it wont fire up even with the clutch pressed in. once its in neutral it fires up no prob.

Hmmm... sounds like you should investigate the clutch switch more... it sits right up by where the clutch lever hinges... make sure you can hear a slight "click" when pulling the clutch in.

Just to clarify, if you put it in gear, once started, it doesn't die? If that is true, I would imagine your kickstand switch/bypass is still fine.

ya the clutch switch 'clicks' but that may not mean much. is it supposed to die when you put it in gear? do you mean with the kickstand down?

It would only die if the bike thought your kickstand was down (when you put it in gear), but that doesn't sound like a problem.

Prolly wanna make a stop by the dealer, sounds like a clutch switch or the actual QS itself...

im thinking it may be the clutch switch because i recently had my left combo switch replaced, the one that changes the modes etc. maybe the clutch switch didnt get plugged in.

well i just got back from bmw motorcycles of ft worth. they hooked the bike up to a scanner and pulled a code for the shift sensor and ordered me a new one, should be in end of next week im hoping. we'll see how it goes.

the guys at the dealership were SUPER cool, everyone complemented me on the bike/stretch etc and were all very excited to hear about how it does at the dragstrip. thats always nice

You should tell them that the bike doesn't start in gear with the sidestand up and clutch lever pulled in also.

Clutch switch won't show a code they will have to check it.
