Slick mode
Hi all..................Quick question, Ive been riding my S1R for about 7 months now, and although ive over 20 years experience on bikes and been riding the bike in race mode since purchase, Ive not yet had the balls to click it over to slick!!
Ive read all of the differences in the 4 modes, but, Can anyone tell me how much more aggressive etc the bike is in this mode??
Am I just being to cautious???!! lol

its got the same power output as race mode just with a bit more throttle response and the traction control wont kick on as much in this mode as it allows the bike to wheelie for 5 seconds before putting the front tire down. also the rear break is able to lock up and ABS does not interfere although the ABS does still work with the front breaks. IMO slick mode is the mode this bike was intended to be ridden with. no jerky Traction control throwing you around if your trying to redline first gear in race mode or sport. slick is aggressive , just learn how the bike rides with it on and youll be fine. good luck! hold on tight.

you arent riding the bike unless it is in slick mode. Put your purse down and ride that thing. J/K. It isnt that different. Wheel will actually come up. and less intrusion by the nannys. I ride my bike hard on the street so i prefer race mode.

The 2012 has no wheelie control in slick mode...just sayin. I am supposed to pick mine up the 28th and plan the 90 mile ride back in slick mode...figured I want to get to know the real unfettered bike and go from there. I remember like it was yesterday ('74 a Sr. in HS) picking my '72 H2-750 (chambered, ported and carb'd up) up from the dealer in Orlando and driving it 70 miles back to Cocoa Beach...it almost tossed me off on my first test drive...but by the time I was in down town orlando I was doing rolling throttle rearend slides out of stop lights...by the time I got to cocoa beach I was doing sustained power wheelies and got stopped by a motorcycle cop...he saw my temp tag and after finding out I just bought it told me how dangerous that was and just gave me a warning...i just played dumb like I had never ridden (at the time I had just given up motocross where I had an AMA Expert license for 250cc, so was extremely competent)...anyway I expect at 55 now it will be a slightly different ride home.

I must be a sissy...
I've had My bike for over 1 1/2 years, I have yet to place the Slick plug in yet. It's not due to fear, more laziness than anything, plus I really like the "sport" mode more than the Race mode.

Pretty sure you will have to install the plug for slick on the 2012. Better bring some tools as I doubt you will get the dealer to install it. I'm just saying...

The dealer has to program the ECU to accept the slick plug... Unless they change the 2012 with this too.
EDIT: ^^^^ my statement above is incorrect... corrected on the next page....

I rode the first 3500 miles in race with a few times in slick but now I prefer sport as it feels easier to enjoy the bike in cyns . I'm a average street rider slick is very touchie on dips or bumps .
