The Aim Solo data logger has arrived.
I bought it from
MotoDex UGmbH , and I have been impressed by Tony and his customer service.
First impressions are that its a well built unit. Boots up quickly and even finds some satellites inside the house.
Menu system seems good.
It can be set up for Circuit racing, Point to point (as in a rally stage), It will also do these as regularity (when you try to get either lap times as close as possible to each other) or Performance (ie 0-60 mph, 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile drag runs.)
Can have the standard display pages and an additional 4 custom pages.
Some tracks are pre-loaded, (not worked out how to add/remove tracks yet.)
Comes with magnets mounts, but I have bought a RAM Mount so I can mount it with my SAt Nav stuff.
Have to order a small part from BMW to connect it to the Alarm socket under the passenger seat.
There was a lead missing from the package however Tony at motodex has been great chasing this up.
He spent about half an hour on the phone to me yesterday (he is in Germany). He was very helpful and seemed enthusiastic about all things bikes. I would recommend Tony very highly.
Back of unit showing the magnets (these are strong)
Backing plate, to which I have connected a RAM mount, as well as teh magnets there are 2 Allen bolts to hold the plate to the logger.
Unit mounted to bike:
I still have not tested the unit on the road yet. It will work as a laptimer, but no data logging yet, as I am waiting for the lead and the part from BMW. However I have installed the software and configured the unit to read the BMW ecu:

The software comes with test data already in: This shows RPM in green and TPS% in purple. All the things you can show, are listed down the left hand side.
Unit showing screen for 0-60 timing:

More to come when road tested and cable and connecting plug are fitted.
