Default Lean Angle Sensor (Angular Sensor)

Has anyone had issues with theirs? Today the TC light stayed on constant, like when you disable it, and the TC didn't work. Half way thru the ride, the TC light remained on but the TC started working. TC light has remained on for the remainder of the 100+ mile ride.

Bike: 2011 which is 6 mths old with 2,100 miles.

GS-911 faults Lean Angle Sensor (Angular Rate Sensor)

Bosch
6135 8521 872 - $632.02

I'm contacting the dealer to see what they say, but has anyone else had this issue? If so, what did BMW do to rectify the problem?

Thank you in advance!

Sorry you are having a problem. I assume you are hunting to find out how many other owners have had this problem, and I haven't. Obviously, if it is a faulty electronics part, your warranty should cover the expense of replacing and repairing the problem for you.

The description of the part having the problem between the GS-911 and the parts fiche are pretty far off. "Lean Angle Sensor" vs "Speed Sensor" don't seem to help. I'm assuming the part you pointed out from the fiche really is the lean angle sensor, and I assume it is the piece that sits in front of the voltage regulator, low on the frame just in front of the rear tire?

Since the TC light is coming on, and not the VDU indicator in the display, I would assume it's not the drop sensor causing the problem, but might be worth a check. Did you take off the seat and check to see if the drop sensor is still sitting in the cradle in the correct positioon as it should, or check to see if the connector is messed up some how?

Good luck, and let us know what the dealer has to say about this.

The "angular sensor" which is what BMW service manual says is located directly behind the battery. The fiche labels it as a "speed sensor". The big discrepancy of the names is another reason I bring this to the forum. I am hoping someone can shed some light on the situation. I have an email into the dealership, but thought someone on here may know better.

Once I find out more information, I will pass it along to the group.

BTW...I did check the "drop sensor" and everything is fine there. If this was faulty you would also receive the error on the speedo.

Thank you in advance for all of your help!

Anyone have any ideas. No word back from the dealer as I'm sure it will be fun dealing with them. Im Military stationed overseas, so I dont know if Italian dealers will honor the warranty since the bike is US spec and bought in Germany.

Found the cause of my TC light staying on....4amp fuse was blown. Thank goodness it wasn't the $632 sensor. Not sure what caused the fuse to blow, but was glad when I found it, swapped it and the S1000rr was happy again. GS-911 confirms the fault codes are gone, so I am happy now. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) worked again. Should have thought to check that yesterday.

Thanks to everyone who shared possible solutions.
