Default BST WHEELS YES or NO

I'm thinking of purchasing BST wheels and would like some feedback as too the performance gains. I understand they make the bike quicker and easier to steer. Is it really work 3 Grand. Are the performance gains similar to an exhaust. I do understand that you don't gain horsepower. The perceived perfromance increase is due to the less rotating mass. I would like to hear feedback from BST owners was it worth it.

Thanks

KY

Yes, it's worth it. The bike looks and performs great with BST's installed. I also purchased ceramic beariing, price was close to $4k. If you find them for $3k, that's a deal

Hey 650ib,
Any concerns with the ceramic bearings on the road vs track? Are they shatter proof against wheelies?

Also, is the ride very rigid with the BST’s in general? I once read that you tend to cringe riding over the smallest bumps due to the terrible feeling. True story?

I want to believe and upgrade, but I dont to loose any "comfy" ride quality.

Thx.

I have the BSTs and ceramic bearings. Couldn't comment on shatter proof, but I do remember reading that ceramic hold up better than stainless steel bearings and don't rust or wear.

As to ride comfort... no difference between the two. BSTs just handle and "feel" better than stock.

For sure the best of my mods!

if you are worried about the bearings being shatter proof against wheelies, might i suggest that you learn how to set down your bike from the wheelie properly. itll probly save you from replacing fork seals everytime you turn around too..

but as for the wheels, they are amazing, worth every penny. my buddy has them. and i have ridden his bike and all i have to say is WOW

I too am very interested and want to pull the trigger on a set. Looking around I read about the ceramic bearings but only have found one source listing it. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong places. If anyone has multiple sources to look at that have pricing with the ceramic bearings I'd appreciate it.

Thanks to everyone sharing their experience and great advice!

Just calibrating this fairly strong and consistent positive recommendation...are you guys riding on the street and having this "best mod ever" "wow" "worth every penny" reaction, or are you racing on the track, and saying this is $4K well spent?

I'm also tempted, but $4K is a lot, and I'm primarily a street / twisty rider with a few to hopefully soon a half dozen track days thrown in / year.
thx

Thanks RRider, I need to clarify. I am primarily street, tollway (nights have a 30 mile no camera, no law enforcement stretch) and twisty hills.

I still want more sources and some of the great vendors I've dealt with don't state anything about the bearings one way or another.

Calling isn't good as I've been where calls are not really practical cost wise. I'll be back soon and want to get the wheels soon after return.

I am playing the same game now, trying to decide between forged alum, forged mag and BSTs, cost benefit def plays an issue.
