Ohlins on the street...
I have had my bike about 11 months now, full Ohlins, front and rear, about 165 with gear and the rear spring was matched for that weight when I ordered it.
Been to a track day at Loudon, NH in June. Suspension was set -6 from full stiff, front and rear compression and rebound, front preload to full soft. The track wasn't real bumpy in corners but in a few spots before corner entry.
I have since let a seasoned racer about my body weight take it without tweaking on the street, and he said the front and rear was way too stiff, I agree. So I went to -6 from full soft, front and rear, compression and rebound. The bike seems balanced and a pleasure to ride with these settings. For giggles I bumped the rear to -10 from full soft front and rear and immediately noticed harshness (as to be expected from the rear).
For the street then, is it best to keep the settings front/rear the same, +1, +2, -1, -2 for the best overall feel, comfort and more important safety.
I tried -5 from full soft front and rear yesterday and like the feel even better so I will stick with that for now unless someone can convince me why I need to change them.
Thanks...
Rhody...
