Default Dunlop sportsmart

Just returned from my track day at Lakeside Raceway QLD Australia. Nice small technical track and one I've ridden quite a bit of late. I'm only an medium pace and have run Q2's and more recently power lures. However, after reading a revue in this forum along with some comparisons I've read on other standout Tyres which are said to be in a different league. Dunlop sportsmart ,I understood to be right at the front of the bunch. Put em on and took it easy for 2 sessions feeling them out. Took a huge(to me)slide when I stepped it upa bit.

Long story short 3 more slides and when I went to discuss it with the tyre guy,the young lad who tests their hire bikes and does tuition was having similar issues. They only just got them in to supply along with their other dunlops I don't know what to think but thought I'd mention it

What did you with you tyre pressures? IIRC those Dunlops run really low cold pressures.

I started out 32/32 however the tuition guy was running 28 hot and was experimenting with other pressures to fix the problem. It was more his opinion that worried me.

Am on sportsmarts, i found them to be the slipperiest tyre when new, 3or4 moments on them, BUT, once scubbed in are great, loads of confidence in them and would certainly fit again. Run 30 fr 26-28 rr

Dunlop make better tyres more suited to track use than the Sportsmart (D211 GP,D211 Racer etc).

However, the Sportsmart is a fantastic tyre within it's design parameters and is a league (or 2) above the Power Pure.
