Default Race Tech Suspension ?

Hi guys,

Wondering if any of you out there are fans (users) of Race Tech suspension parts? I'm a little heavy for the standard springs (200 lbs. in gear) and a respected suspension guy in my area is recommending a 9.8 Race Tech rear spring and valve changes for the Sachs OEM stuff. Est. about $1k.

I'm mostly a street rider (10k / year) and an occasional track guy (1-3 x / year), so going full Ohlins seems out of touch dollar wise for my type of riding.

Any opinions on products vs. improvements to expect?

Thanks mate, but no. Rear shock revalve + spring, front forks revalved, and setup after parts replaced. I can do the math. I'm looking for brand name component reviews. Anybody have experience with Race Tech?

Thumbs up

Ive been to their HQ in the OC several times (4X in 15 years) & dealt with the owner as well as the employees. All great people. Im a huge fan of their gold valves & have used them with RT springs oil etc.. in 3 different bikes & am very satisfied.

Since you're in CA, get in touch w/Dave Moss. I know someone that got their S1 dialed in pretty good w/him trackside for quite a bit less that that! And that was some work on both front and rear. I'd imagine he's pretty darn close to your weight w/gear on. If you are looking for other options, get in touch w/Thermosman (Mike Fitzgerals). He's way far away from you, so you'd just mail stuff to him. I am running RaceTech internals on the forks of both my R6 race bikes. One has an Ohlins shock, the other a Penske. Thermosman re-worked my forks, different spring, serviced the Penske and re-sprung that too for a lot less than a grand

Thanks Donny,

I'm in Washington (the state) so a long ways from most major guys. I don't see anybody yet who has had Race Tech rebuild a Sachs set of suspension on a S1K, but I see they do valves and such on Ohlins and Penske gear. So, I'm hopeful maybe they can improve my S1K on a lean budget.

Also, thanks for the cost tip. The valves and springs aren't that much and maybe 4 hours work for somebody competent seems in line.

Gives me some kind of guideline. What I was looking for.

Thanks.

Yep, forgot you were up North of there... guess I coulda looked below your Avatar Get w/Dave Moss... I sent you a PM of a buddy of mine that you can contact who got his suspension setup by Dave and he's a pretty fast guy on the track and like I said, similar weight. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, he may just have that suspension that Dave setup sitting in his garage as I think he couldn't resist the Ohlins GOLD

PM sent to ya.

Rainman, if you haven't already shipped your parts, call Barry @ KFG Suspension. He's down in the Kent area.
