Default Puncture

Picked up my second puncure in just over a month, that K3 has done just 250miles, not happy at all, the dealer won't repair punctures so it will be another new tyre, the original conti done 1725miles when i got the first puncture, the dealer offered me a pirelli rosso2, always been told not to mix tyres yet their demo has a K3 front and rosso 2 rear, what do you guys think about mixing tyres?

Your luck seems to be a litttle bad lately and i am sorry to hear about it. You could try to patch it yourself but there is the risk of it being thown out while riding. Some people have good luck with tire repair while others do not. You can't blame the dealership for not patching it though. Imagine the legal issues involved with putt ng you back on the street with a tire they "repaired" on a bike that makes almost 200hp.

I am not sure about the tire mixing thing but I wouldn't see a problem with it if the characteristics of the tires were the same--heat up time, stickyness, etc.

Not to take the business away from dealerships but I think that some places--
cycle gear--offer road hazard protection on tires for an extra fee. At least they did 10 years ago. The wear is prorated. Think you still have to pay for mounting and balancing--and wear on the damaged tire--but it may be something to consider if you are picking up nails/screws.

I would try to avoid some of the area you are riding on for a while as there may have been some kind of construction truck or work done where some debris has been dumped or fallen into the roadway.

Plug it & be on your way. As long as you stay below 100mph or so, there is at least an inch distance between plugs, the plugs are an inch away from the sidewall you will be fine.

On that note as in everything else in life, if $ is no issue a new tire cannot be beat.

Personally, I don't like to mix tire brands. They are designed to work together.

As far as I am concerned the K3's are hugely prone to getting punctures.. I had 5 !!!! yes 5 punctures in the first 4,000 miles I did on K3's.. Changed to Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas and have been puncture free for the last 6,000 miles.

I do not think that the Metzeler K3 has something to do with the punctures...Just bad luck.I had mine for more than 3500km and not a single puncture.
