Default OEM TIRES?

I just picked up my '11 s1000rr yesterday. So psyched! I just noticed that it has the Conti Sport Attack tires on them. I briefly went thru the forum & saw that other S's came w/these tires as well. How do some bikes come w/the Metzlers & others the Conti? I'm going back to dealer tmmrw to see what tires are on the other S's on the floor...anyone shed some light? Tks!

They come with three different tires OEM. I got Metzler K3 on mine. Not sure why or who gets what.

Congrats on the new bike...you're in for a bunch of great flicking methinks.

Mine came with the Contis. Ive found them to be brilliant tyres. I got just over 3k from the rear and I replaced it with another Conti. Run them at recommended pressures and they'll be brilliant for road riding.

The wierd thing is when you replace your tire with the same Conti SportAttack, you need the rear with the "c" designation for BMW fittment.

Dont know the reason for the C for the S1000RR.

I know I get AO on my tyres for my car, and there are also MO versions of the same tyre. (Audi and Mercedes Only respectively). These are to do with the thickness of the tyre wall.

From what I could find the "c" is for,

"Manufactured with an additional carcass ply and developed with BMW for specific fitment on BMW models"

The "c" is also only for the rear not the front.

I don't know how to tell the difference though. I replaced my rear but don't know with which one. Holds the road at high speeds, so I'm happy either way.

You can choose the C model on some websites but I couldn't where I got mine.

Considering the low volume of production of these bikes it is strange why they put in different tires. Any respctable tire producer could easily provide tires for the lot . Maybe its BMW using us a guinea pigs. Lucky I got K3's
