DUNLOP SPORTSMARTS
FIT DUNLOTS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep,
from now on the Dunlop Sportsmarts are the way I'll go,,,
I removed a set of Conti Sport attacks at 1400 miles,, due to lack of feel and a harsh ride along with a surprising recoil when going over a sharp bumps,
From talking to a tyre fitter the Carcass on the Contis are known for there softness and as such have a recoil effect??
The Dunlops I have now covered over 2000 miles in 6 days and can say that through rain, cold ish mornings and to hot sun in the south of France they performed impecably,,
even after a 900 miles motorway blasting along the motorways they are not showing signs of sqauaring off..yet.
very quick warm up, great feel and they give a surprising plushness to the ride, to the point that I have been able to stiffen up the suspension settings a little.
the front is planted and feels like my old blade did. giving great confidence particularly when a little trail braking is required.
unless I was just doing tracks I rate these as the best road tyre for a superbike I have ever ridden on. (thats a strong but well founded statement)
hope it helps someone out there!

tired of changing tires-do the sportsmarts stick
got many bikes and end up (myself)changing 8 to 10 tires a year. i wear the s1000rr and gixxer 1000 front and rear tires bald, edge to edge, in about 2500,all street riding. i went from the k3 to the q2's.which are great. i have been tempted to fit sportsmarts to either bike, just to see if i could get maybe 3500 miles a tire, but i am concerned about corner grip. also, my roads are nice and curvey, but are poorly maintained so and more compliance would also be nice. for you older guys, like me, you may remember the comp k. i called a metzler tire engineer many, many years ago and asked him about the marathon, again because i was always spooning on tires. i was running the comp "k", which at the time was the ricky racer tire. much to my surprise the tire engineer said the marathon had exactly the same rubber compound, but the tread depth was much deeper, so i would get tire squirm, which would lessen with wear. however,i know that does not apply to q2's versus the sportsmarts.
i recently called dunlop tire in buffalo for advice. years ago i was on a first name basis with 3 tire dunlop engineers, but unfortunately could not remember there names, so i had to settle for "tire" customer service people. two of them said they did not recommend the sportsmart for very aggressive street riding. they said that too much heat would build up and the profile was not suitable. i would like to hear from the hard corner chargers who as gone to sport touring tires, and have been pleasantly surprised with good grip and good mileage. thanks

We don't have Sportsmarts in the USA, which made me believe that our Q2's were the same as UK Sportsmarts?

It's a shame when 'customer service' types clearly don't understand their own product!
Perhaps they don't really care.
Either way, you've been given **** advice.
The Sportsmart is ideal for what you're looking for - it's far better than Conti Race attacts (or whatever they were called) and in a different league to the Michelin Power Pure.
Quick warm-up,enough grip for fast group riders on track,a nice compromise between quick initial turn in and stability and do they last well.
For reference I used compounded Racetecs on various bikes over the years (and the previous Rennsports too) - K2 rear and K1 front - the Longest they ever lasted was 1200 miles - average was one trackday and 800 miles.
Compare that with the Sportsmarts I currently have fitted - a better fast road tyre than the Racetecs (they never really got to operating temp on the road) while not having quite the absolute grip of the Racetec (but not far off!) - i'm now at 2800 miles and the rear is only just starting to lose profile.
Still lots of tread left and, as a suprising bonus, they're actually not too bad in the monsoon-like conditions we've had recently in the UK.
Thoroughly recommended.
I know were i'll be spending my money when they eventually die.
Perhaps the profits Dunlop make could go towards customer service training...

Yip neither yet in South Africa. But apparently we will be getting, if so I 'll be putting a pair on next to test if they are as good as they say.

I rang a BMW dealer as he had what looked like a megga deal on a 2011 bike (mine is early 2010)
He was asking me about my bike and asked the mileage, ''6000'' I replied, ''so it will need a set of tyres then, they must be nearly worn out''
WHAT???????? he had no idea that a BMW S1000RR will be on about the end of it's third set by that mileage...............

Okay now that I've had a look at those tires, none of our tires match up.
Our Q2' looks just like your D211, nothing else is sold here or matches up except the Roadsmart tire, which I love on my touring bike.
I have the Q2' on my hypermotar, but it again, the tread pattern looks to be that of your D211.
I would love it if we had the Sportmax Mutant for my hyper though.
