Rear tyre
So I finished off the rear tyre on the S1000 yesterday doing a track day, 2,500 Kilometers but 1,000 of that was during the break-in still better than the 1198 that only lasted 1500 Kilometers!!!!! So I really liked the Contisport attacks that were OEM they never slipped once, I have full confidence in them.
I noticed when doing some on-line investigation that tyre comes in a couple of varieties?? The Contisport the Contisport “C” and the Conti-race so the question is first is the OEM tyre a “C” or the normal one?? And has anybody tried the Conti-race?? If so any better worse, mileage expectations?? Thanks in advance, Colin.

Colin, to the best of my recollection, I had read that the "C" designation was a tire designed for fitment to BMW bikes. Something about an extra ply in the tire carcass or something.
I got excellent use out of my original SportAttacks, too. However, I have no experience with the RaceAttacks, or any other Continental tire, for that matter.

I just finished changing my SportAttack rear with another one, and they are both identical. They both have the marking - 190/55/ZR17 M/C (75W).
I don't know if this is exactly what you are referring to but that's what I found.
On another note, I got 7200/km out of mine and never had any issues.
One more note, I just noticed as I was changing the tire that there is no weight on it, or on my front tire for that matter. The bike was very stable at the top end of the speedo so I guess I'm not complaining.

Dshred, if you look at some online vendors for the SportAttack, many of them will list the rear tire as a "C" model specifically. My understanding is some bike manufacturers specify a special feature for the OEM tire, like the extra ply in the case of the Conti fitted as original equipment to the BMW. They identify this variant as the "C" model, but it will work on any other bike that takes the same size tire, just as the non-"C" model will work on the BMW. You may notice it feels slightly different than the "C" model, though. I don't know why BMW would specify special tire from Conti, though.
Also, I've seen "F" used for at least one of Honda's OEM sport tires.
M/C is just shorthand for motorcycle.

I figured that's what M/C was but where is there any other designation to distinguish the difference between C and non C?

They're are some really great tires out in fact, most if not all, are pretty great due to today's technology and competition.
Here's what I like in order of feel:
1. Metlzer K3
2. Michelin Power One's
3. Dunlop Q2/Sportsmart
4. Michelin Pilot Power or Pilot Power 2CT
In turns of value per set
1. Dunlop Q2/Sportsmart (as low as $200 per set)
2. Michelin Pilot Power or Pilot Power 2CT ($200 or $260)
3. Michelin Power One's ($350 per set)
4. Metlzer K3 ($450 per set)
Track Use
1. Dunlop Q2/Sportsmart
2. Metzler K3
3. Power One
4. Pilot Power Series (suited for newer riders)
In dept Tire Write-up can be found here: Tires, Tires, Tires

I honestly do not know, sir. Since the "C" designated tire is available, I would likely opt for that, but the non C version will be just as good, I'm sure.

I'm not surprised the Contis did not make the list. Many of the guys here whose bikes came with Contis acted like their dog died. I think they're a terrific street tire, but I think I'm in the minority. I'm using DRCs now and they're great, too.
TT: no offense meant. Don't know what your OE tires were, but complimentary posts about the Conti Sport Attacks are waaayyy down compared to the posts about the other OE tires. I agree that the top brands are all really good.

I can't find any weights on my bike either. Where would they even mount to on the stock wheels?
