Default First Ride witht the Metzeler M5

These are not the K-3's but they are not bad at all. Only road abou 200 miles and they handle pretty well! Just wondering how many miles I will get out of them? Oh yeah, they have a chicken strip indicator on them so, they come with a lot of peer pressue!

Jeez, do they not have turns in Maryland? Take the training wheels off! Do you have a side car? 200 miles on a dyno... O.K. i'm done.

I cant tell if this is sarcasm or the inability to read subject headers...

Anyway, how do the tires compare to the previous set you had on the bike?

Don't be too much of hater ... my K-3s almost look as bad. 65 miles a day on the Interstate commuting to work will do it every time.

Not sarcastic as personally I love the conti attack. Simply missed the headers...

Just replaced my conti attack with k3's and what a difference the bike feels much more stable at high lean angles. I never felt confident with the conti's so now getting to push the bike hard!!!

In other threads, I've commented on my experience on K3 and on M5, but to OPs question, I got about 3300 miles out of my m5's. As there is a lot of variability in how much mileage people get here on the forum, for comparison purposes, I ride primarily aggressive twisties, with little bits of city and freeway riding. I keep the tire pressure relatively low, not track low, but also not freeway riding high, running 32/34 (f/r), and I get around 2900 to 3000 miles on k3's at about the same tire pressure and riding style.

I'm trying the Diablo SuperCorsa 200/55 for the summer (and I expect to do a few track days as well), but I'll likely go back to the M5's for the rainy months. I'm considering getting an extra set of wheels for track/excellent weather so I can keep my stock wheels set up for rainy colder riding, and not have to hope that my tires are due to be changed at the seasonal boundary.
