Default Think the suspension is too stiff, whats the first thing I should change?

So Ive been riding the bike with the settings as delivered from the dealer for the past almost 2k miles.

The other day I really paid attention to what the bike was doing and how much it was soaking up bumps(or lack thereof) and found the bike to be very harsh.

Going over bumps in the road would send shocks up my spine as the seat jerked up and sometimes it even kicked me off my seat.

Im 5.10 about 170(without gear) and like I said I have everything at factory settings. All the clicks are at "5".

What should I change or should I take it somewhere to get adjusted?

I weigh 180.5 & for street riding, found reducing compression in the front helped, as well as reducing high-speed comp in the back. I did increase low-speed out back as well.

I would also check you sag settings.

Funny cause I actually feel that the bike is way to soft and bumps way too much... Especially on track... That's why I made it more hard

On the track I can imagine that being the case, however Ive never taken the bike to the track and do all my riding on the street.

Therefore, for me, its too stiff IMO.

The first thing to try is to reduce the preload on the springs in the fork and the shock to get your sag set for your weight... Then also try softening the high speed compression on the shock and backing the low speed compression out of the front and rear. Your manual shows various settings for "comfort".. At 170 lbs, you coould try softening everything up. Make sure you keep each end matched with the manuals specs.

I outweigh you by 20lbs. Just for giggles, I set the suspension to all 2s. Huge difference on the Interstates and rough roads. My commute to work is great. But I don't like it anywhere else, way too soft for any sort of handling.

I just took a gander at all my settings. They are all set at "5". From looking at the manual, at any setting(comfortable, normal or sport) it seems that the settings will never be all the same. Im thinking I may need to do some tweaking here.

Take 50 bucks up to Washington Cycle Works and let them set your suspension for you. You will be happy you did.

Just looked them up. Someone else told me about them a long time ago and completely forgot. Heard they were the best at this stuff. Thanks for the recommendation!
