Default Metzeler K3 and punctures!

So.. I am on my 6th rear tire in 6000 miles!!! I have now had a puncture in my rear tire every 1,000 miles. In the last 30+ years of riding Sportbikes, I have had exactly 3 punctures, now in the last 5 months 5 punctures???? Is the Metzeler K3 just not very resistant to punctures?

I just had a new set of Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsas put on in the hope that they last a bit longer and resist getting deflated a bit better. I have run the DRC's on my ZX-10R and my Triumph Daytona 675 with great performance and ZERO punctures.

Anyone else had this issue with the K3's?

No issue on my 5,000 mile K3s ... yet.

My car has an affinity for 2" lag bolts from the local Home Depot where someone's truck keeps dumping the damn things all over the roadway. I try to avoid getting near building supply outfits in general as well a new housing tracts, but the car tires still find them. One tire may have a half dozen Stop-and-Go mushroom plugs fired into it now along with some Slime-type stuff. My BMW GT has been on the receiving end of a few plugs too. Really needs to be some magnetic strip mandatory on pickups and flatbeds to keep bolts, screws, and roofing nails from dumping on the ground.

Always seems to be the "driven" tire for me that gets the puncture (i.e. rear on bike, and front drive wheels on the car).
