Question Lee Parks Suspension Bible and how to get up the suspension tuning curve?

So, I keep reading here that the best thing you can do is dial in your suspension. I'm not happy with my suspension (I'm 5'8" 150lbs). I have gone to a tuner, who tweaked the suspension (set sag, etc), but I also read, that only YOU can set the suspension for you. That's all fine and dandy, but I don't think I know enough to even give good feedback to a tuner. So, this has led me to the conclusion I need to educate myself and dive into the mystical wonders of suspension tuning (which seems like a long dark tunnel to me right now).

Lee Parks recently released a new book, RaceTech's Motorcycle Suspension Bible from Lee Parks Design Catalog, which is purported to be the suspension tuning bible. I'm wondering if anyone knowledgeable has an opinion on this book and my plan? or any suggestions?

thanks!

It's very good, but if you're a beginner (or even intermediate, like me) suspension maven, it's easy to get lost in the settings. Worthwhile book just for the theory, though, except for all the RaceTech tool references. I have an autographed copy.

Another book suggestion is:

Sportbike Suspension Tuning by Andrew Trevitt.

Sportbike Suspension Tuning Book Review - Motorcycle USA

The Race Tech book is one of the best illustrated manuals I've seen; Andrew Trevitt's book is a wealth of knowledge and Tony Foale's book teaches more than you ever wanted to know about everything chassis related. But I feel the best source of information I've ever purchased on the topic has been the Dave Moss DVDs. Dave Moss does an excellent job of explaining, and in most cases displaying on track results of everything he does. For anyone even considering learning about the topic, I think the DVDs make a fine first investment. Heck... I watch them so frequently I can probably lip synch some of it

this is a great suggestion...this is a topic where a (moving) picture is worth much more than a 1000 words. which DVD are you referring to? I see three at this link: SportbikeWrench.com - OnTheThrottle DVD Library (Dave Moss Suspension Box Set, Dave Moss Intro to sport bike suspension, and Dave Moss Twiddling Knobs DVD).

thanks

I agree with this, and most if not all the Moss videos are on YouTube now...

I believe the Box set is the Intro to Sport Bike Suspension, and Twiddling the Knobs combined. There is a discount for ordering the set. You can get them directly off Catalyst Reactions website at Feel The Track! Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning.

awesome. I just ordered them. Starting my journey into learning suspension and the impact adjusting can have on how my bike performs! Thx!
