Bst front disc -caliper problem,adjust????
Hi all,
fitted the bst`s last weekend, noticed the caliper pad guides are extremely close to the discs especially on the inside of the r/h disc, also abs sensor is rubbing on the exiter ring l/h.my guess is the wheel needs to move to the right at least 0.5MM any advice appreciated.Dealer has emailed the factory and is awaiting reply.

Did you loosen the pinch bolts on the leftside of thefork tubes when you removed the wheel? If so, you did not put it back in the right place. This can be confirmed if it is close to the inside of the caliper on one side and the outside of the caliper on the other (thus the wheel is not centered). You adjust where the wheel sit by moving the axle one way or the other with the left before you tighten the right pinch bolts. The instructions say 'do not loosen the left bolts as the location of the ABS ring sensor is critical'. Your wheel does not seem to be centered properly.
P.S. Please post a pic of your wheel in the bike. I would like to see how the discs are mounted and why you have a nut on the back of the disc bolts. It shouldnot have one.

If the wheel bearing have been replaced, that may create a misalignment as well. As the wheel is located by where the bearing are in the wheel.

Ok,slackened the l/h pinch bolts to make sure it was pushed fully to the right, refitted the bst and now gap seems a fraction better ,will measure exiter ring clearance with a feeler gauge later.

geordie, I would leave the wheel assembled and move the wheel to the right to center it by loosening the pinch bolts on both sides now (it seems from the pic that it is too far over to the left). No need to remove the wheel. But you need to 1st take the calipers off and push bck the pistons, as they are now set to the incorrect postion of the wheel and will prevent you from centering it. Then refit the calipers and center the wheel before you pump the brakes.
My wheel fits perfectly and there cannot be a difference in the distance between the discs (all the BMW S1wheelsuse the same carriers and hubs (no alternatives) and the axle whith its spacers can moove left and right. You just need to center it (by moving it to the right).

Hi, i cant see any way the wheel can go any further to the right as its position is determined by how far the l/h bush is seated in the fork, mine is up to the stop, flat of the bush to flat of the fork,(as i thought they all should be??????????)unlikely but maybe ive got a short l/h axle bush???.Anyone know what the front abs sensor clearance should be????

If it is still not right, I would go along with Dans question. Did you have the bearings switched for ceramic bearings? If so, it may be that they are not pressend in correctly creating the problem.
