Don't know much about the M series Metzlers but I know a few people who had them and do not like them.

My K3's wore out right as the Califronia winter hit. They were definitely slipping and sliding a lot on the colder wet roads. I went to M5s. I have been happy. they have appreciably more traction on the wet and cold than the almost worn K3's (fair comparison?). And I've been happy in the warm and dry as well. I'm considering getting K3's again for the summer months, as I do feel they grip better in the warm dry, but yes I'm happy with the M5s.

I said it befoer, saying it again.

They are not K3s. They handle MOSTLY like K3s in transition, but not the same in terms of ultimate grip or feedback. They lasted me 2.5x longer, they ARE better in the wet. They did have an odd low freq vibration on braking, but I haven't felt it yet in this year's M5's so that might have been a balance issue.

They are 80% the K3, last a lot longer. I do ride in the wooded hills, in tight turning roads, and they are pretty good.

One man's opinion.

When my K3s were done at 5K miles, I replaced them with the M5s and have about 500 miles on them so far. Like Paul Y said just before, the M5s don't have as much ultimate grip or feel as the K3s, but the M5s will likely suit my type of riding better as I use the bike alot for commuting and I live in the rainy Pacific Northwest.

Then you definitely want to stay on the M5s. K3s are 80% trackday tires and they are not good for everyday riding. They are absolutely dangerous in the wet becaust the sides have virtually no tread. If you are a street rider do not waste your money because they are way overkill.

Yeah, I would only go back to the K3s if I bought a second set of wheels and used them only for track days and for sunny and warm rides through the twisty backroads. The M5s should be more than capable for my level of street riding and even the occasional track day as I don't plan on riding all out.
