Default Torque Spec Questions FGRT & TTX rear shock

Hey guys,
just need to know if anyone has the torque spec for the Ohlins Forks install and rear TTx shock....Finally, made the dive and picked up the setup from ED on this forum and wanted to make sure i had all the Torque spec for the front triples bolts upper and lower, front axle, and the rear top and bottom bolts....Any advice from anyone that has done this DIY project would be greatly appreciative.....

Wow! You guys sure drop major coin on these bikes; isn't that about $4k worth of suspension right there?

For those of you doing high-end mods like this (and BST's), are you over-insuring the bikes accordingly?

HEY MAN,
i called state-farm and they said to over insure the bike for the aftermarket parts is not worth it..i asked why..they said if you try putting in a claim they would pay you half the cost..So if you insure it for an extra 10k, they would pay out 5k, all in all 5k is better then nothing but it didn't seem worth the extra coin...and they wanted a receipt for everything..i will give them another call when i have everything on the bike and see what they say.....

Quick question: Ohlins manual says to line up the top of the fork same height as OEM fork tube..that doesnt seem right....can someone clear this up? i was going to bring them almost flush to the top maybe only 1mm of the top fork pretruding/....

I followed this method to install my FGRT's ...

Installing Ohlins Forks, Removing Stock Forks, Frt Wheel, and Setting SAG, all in one

You have to line up the bottom of the forks, not the top. And yes, i have about 1 mm or less protruding on my FGRT in order to match the OEM fork bottom.

I still need to install the TTX shock once a new spring arrives ... which looks like a lot more effort!

I could not line up the bottom of the Ohlins leg with the stock leg at stock height.

When I did, the fluting on the Ohlins fork was inside the the bottom triple clamp. The Ohlins manual that I have, states that the amount sticking out of the top of the upper triple clamp is 6mm. This must be from the top of the gold section and not from the top of the fork because there is such a large chamfer on the top of the fork, that some of it would be inside the top triple clamp.
So, with the Ohlins fork installed as Ohlins manual states (6mm from top of gold part of fork) The fluting is below the bottom triple clamp, so there is good clamping, but the bottom of the fork where the axle goes through will be aprox. 7mm lower then the stock fork at stock height. What this means is the ride height in the front will be higher and the trail should increase over stock settings.
I had no problems with the stock geometry, so I flipped the cam at the shock (this will give me 10mm extra height at the back) I am also swapping the M3s for Dunlop 211, once I get the sag set I may have to raise back a bit more.

The fluting on my install ends just below the bottom triple clamp. These fgrt don't seem to give you much choice in fork position! You only get a milimeter or so of movement i think before either the fluting on the bottom half, or the chamfer on the top are inside either of the triple clamps!

I must have had my oem forks set at slightly different height to you Noel, as they matched up quite well.

I will be raising the rear too, as the new tires have a lower circumference to the OEM K3's ... which handled well.

Default job

well what a pain in the ass...i barrowed a buddies vortex stand and unfortunately wasn't able to do the install since his pin didn't work with the bmw..so i attempted to do the rear shock..what a #$%^bitch that was..i learned a very good lesson with this DIY project..have the right stands when doing this job..almost drop the bike...Thank the gods for that one!

as for the forks im still a little confused...I understand ohlins is saying 6mm above the top triple measuring the top gold part of the fork to the top clamp....and this results the bottom being 7mm longer? do i have this correct, thereby increasing trail? why would ohlins do this? is it a better setup?

i went ahead and flip the eccentric rear shock fitting...so hopefully once i get the forks on i will go out and see what the deal is with this setup..im curios why hard racing has there setup flush...
