Brake Pads - Time to say Goodbye to OEM's
Greetings
My ONLY dissapointment is in regards to the front brakes - don't ever use the rears. My time on race bikes with fresh rotors and race pads have me quite spoiled, and looking for MORE or in this case, less - FADE. I have 4200 miles & pushing through the Colo canyons - while I don't think the OEM pads absolutely suck, they are clearly not what "I" am looking for. Confirmed in another post the lines are indeed SS, so it's either new pads or perhaps an upgrade to the master - (RCS19) - however, I don't want to do this because I invested in Synto's & don't want to throw away the right side... So, experienced colleagues what pads to choose from for 80% street use? OR any one interested in Quantity (1) Synto Brake in Gold???

I believe SBS and EBC makes specific brake pads for the S1000RR.I just bought but did not try yet the SBS dual carbon brake pads.If you mostly use the bike on the road then the
Scandinavian Brakes Systems is closer to your needs.

I had big issues at the track with fade and shuddering, fitted up Galfer rotors ,better then fitted some eBC HH pads bit aggressive but worked heaps better ,then fitted some carbone lorrane and bit sluggish on street on first few applications, fitted RCS19 and it works great at the track ,happy now but was really dissapointed in teh std braking and had gone back to BMW without any success, brakes were nowhere near as good as std 1098s brakes or my 08 R1 trackbike also changed to Dot 5.1 fluid

SBS Dual Carbon are brilliant.
I had them on my gsxr1000 on track, accidentally ran them down to the metal(just!)with no fade whatsoever!
I have them ready to fit my s1000rr.
I used to use SBS in my racecar too.
Their sintered pads are also good.
SBS Rock!

Do the Dual Carbon need a lot of time to heat up or 1-2 brakes and you are ready? How many miles or trackdays did they last (better than the sintered)?

No,they heat up very quickly and last about the same as Sintered pads.
When you first install them you need to bed them in,basically you transfer a thin film of carbon onto the disc(only takes a couple of miles or a lap).Once done, because in effect you are braking carbon to carbon, warm up is very quick. On track I just feather the brake when I leave the pits.If you replace the pads with Dual Carbon no bedding in is necessary because the disc remains coated.

I have a set of Carbone Lorrains on order, the street formula, so I'm curious as to how they hold up over the OEM's. Supposly they are superior, but I don't know for fact.
