BST RIMS Swapping from R1 to S1k
Expertise needed - Seeing as I cant sell them, does anyone know if it is possible to make the BST rims designated for the 09 R1 fit the S1k.
The UK agent (who is excellent) says no, but I guess I would too if I thought I could sell another set (dont mean that nastily) but a number of bike techies I know at work say it should be easy as the rims etc are the same.
Any one know with any substance ?

They dont seem to reply mate. Last time they just forwarded my mail to the UK rep which kind of didnt help my cause!
I'll happily buy a new set for the beamer if they dont fit, but i need to sell these if so for the dosh, but obviously people like to offer silly money
Know any contacts at BST?

Email Brock. I would be concerned with the hubs. You would need new bearings and gubbins and then front rotor carriers. I would think it could be done. Email Brock.

Cheers guys - who is Brock? Why would I need new bearings? These are almost new rims done less than 600 miles.........dont understand? I have a real techie mate, he agrees with you guys, it must be possible......

It's all relative to spindle size, fork width, disc spacing etc.You definitely need to speak to someone at BST.I wanted to convert some Galespeed wheels(I know they're alloy-but same principal)They told me the hubs would need to be changed and it was unlikely it could be done!).Hopefully BST are more sensible!

The axle sizes will be different, therefore you would need new bearings to match the outside diameter of the BMW axles. If you did not have ABS, you could use the R1 rotors I think, but you would probably need custom spacers. But I am sure if you have ABS/DTC you would need to get the BST rotor carries if they fit the R1 hubs. I still think it could be done. A good engineering shop would be able to work it out too I think. BST themselves (the factory in South Africa not the distributor in the UK) would without a doubt be able to re-work them to BMW spec.

nigels correct...since the hubs glued in it will be very costly.. the physical outer hoop it the same but the bearings have different diameters on the r1..
ive been told by braketech that the 99-07 hayabusa and 96-99gsxr wheels are a bolt on swap. if you didnt have abs/dtc on the bike i would say it would be very easy to do since wheels are easily obtained for the gsxr/hayabusa. use a hayabusa aftermarket wheel and rotors and be on your way. the gsxr/hayabusa has a better carrier design and the bike would be easier on rotors.
hope this makes sense to you...
