Default New springs?

I took my bike up to Markbilt Racebikes to have the suspension setup. When he went to set the sag, there wasn't much he could do with the forks. Apparently I'm too light. His suggestions were
  1. Eat more cheeseburgers (yum!)
  2. Respring the forks

He was able to make some adjustments and honestly, it feels better. But the front is still pretty stiff. So question is should I have her resprung?

She'll never see the track. I can use my F4i for that, which I'd prefer. He said it'll cost about $250 total which is no problem. I'm also wondering if the dealership has any responsibility here, with the stock suspension not capable of being set for my weight.

If money isn't the problem then I would say get the springs. You will have a much more enjoyable ride.

As for the dealership having any responsibility for your weight? Well I'm sure back in Germany they would laugh and tell you to eat more sausages and beer. Lol. Sorry

Well my concern is if I have done, will there be enough range for me if I do gain weight. Doubt I'll throw on 40lbs suddenly. But I got the impression I was right on the edge of the current springs

Oh and the guy needs to know what springs are currently in her before getting new springs

The spring ranges do overlap some. If your light enough to need lighter springs then I doubt you have to worry about any weight gain. As for the stock size??? Anyone?

The s1 comes with .95's in it, but i need at least 1.0's. so i ended up maxxing out my preload adjuster trying to set up my bike. when i got my 636, i had to back my preload out most of way. you have to wonder how each company decides what spring to put in.

When he went to adjust preload mine was already backed out I think he said.

.95? Thanks. I'll call Markbilt Racebikes and see how long it'll take if he orders them first ( or has them in stock).

Upgrading your springs too suit your weight if you're over or under the weight range supported by your oem suspension is your responsibility. BMW will laugh at you if your try to make it theirs....sorry.

My suspension mechanic upgraded my springs to 1.05 Monday, which cost me $25 total. He just swaped the springs over and only charged for 15 mins work, which is how long it took him. Oh, and he added 25mm to the oil height.

This is pretty much true of all aspects of the bike having to do with the design. BMW doesn't warrant that the bike will perform in any particular manner for any particular rider; they warrant they'll fix defects. Unless the spring is defective, they have no responsibility if it doesn't meet the buyer's needs. It is the buyer's responsibility to decide if the bike's design and specifications meet their needs.

I'm 145 lbs and she beats me to DEATH! I had the suspension set up by a pro and the sag is correct. I think some of it has to do with the stock valving. He wanted to try playing around with the oil viscosity and see if that was an easy change that may help some. Anyone try that? I wish I could afford new forks....
