Default Wet Tyre sizes

I have noticed that Metzeler sell wets in a 190/60 R 17 size. Is this right for the S1000RR or will it mess with the DTC and ABS?

190/55 is the stock size. I have a 190/50 on mine and don't have any problems, but there was another thread where the guy had a 190/50 and the DTC light was lit up a lot. The bike is supposed to calibrate every time you turn it on and roll, so if the tire fits the wheel and isn't touching the bike IMO I think you'll be fine.

I ran a 180/50 when I had my bike extended so that I could clear the original brake mount. I never once had an issue with the dtc when I would cruise around. And I pushed the bike in the corners a lil faster than I should have with the crappy drag tire.

Not all tyres are equal.
You need to find out the measurements of the tyre from Metzeler.

For example a U.S made Dunlop d211gpa 190/60 is 191.3w x 657.4 diameter but the U.K made kr108 195/65 is only 191w x 656 diameter.

I am currently running Dunlop front 125/80 which is only 1mm taller but 5mm narrower than a q2 120/70.

I use dunlop wets and the rear 190/55 is 7mm taller and 9mm narrower than q2 190/55

Hope all this made sense. So check the actual sizing, as maybe the pirelli or metzeler wet 190/60 is similar to the Tyres you are already using.

Cheers for that ,i picked up a set today which are the front is ok but could only get a rear in 180/60 and whilst i know its the wrong size i only have these in the case its wet and got them for a song instead of the normal $700

worst case i will turn the tc off if it doesnt work and just have a play

Just used that tire at Brno this last week and had no probs. Very sticky. Wrapped them in Saran wrap after dismount to hopefully help them last a little while till needing again.
