Default Tire flat spots

So... As I am approaching 3k miles on my lovely bike, I am starting to see the inevitable flat spot developing on the bike. Now I know that this would happen due to my commute to and from work which i use my bike for and also the continuous straight roads and highways we have here in Texas...

With that said, does anyone recommend doing anything in regards to this. I try "rolling out" the tires even when I am on the highway (very carefully) in my own lane but I want to extend the life of my tires as much as I can.

What do you guys/gals recommend in regards to this? Do I just need to change the tires here shortly?

I need to find twistier roads...

I'm sure that if you look around you will find 3k pretty good for tires on this bike. It's hard not to get the inevitable flat spot especially if you use it to commute. Is say keep doing what you are doing. Since you are in Texas I would replace them with a sport/tourer tire as it sounds like you don't need the softer compounds of a sport tire. This should increase your tire life.

"Race take-offs," or used tires from the track have the sides used up with 100% middle tread left. They can often be had very cheap.

As mentioned... nothing much you can do about the wearing of street tires... even if you have a bit of twisties, you're still gonna wear out the middle before the outsides. Only on the track (again, as mentioned above) are you gonna see the sides wear out before the centers. Just watch your wear bars/indicators and replace when necessary.

This is normal wear pattern for commuting & there is no way around it! You will go through 2 rear tires for every front tire "if they are the same brand/model" until the front belts are visible.

I also use my bike to commute so am forced to use different tire makes/models to compensate! Right now i have a Bridgstone Battlax touring on the back & Micheline Pilot powers on the front.

I rely on my front a lot & cannot sacrifice grip/handling there and the P powers fit the bill. I love their profile & out the box grip.

These are4 not your fathers touring tires! lol.. The Bridgstones have excellent grip thats more than enough on the streets & i have taken it to both edges if thats the yardstick you go by! They are a harder compound especially in the middle that offer great millage. I would say you will get around 12-18K depending on your riding style/roads used! The harder compound also makes it easier ti "light er up" in corners or pretty much anywhere! lol..

My bike came with the Bridgestone batt tires. I am happy with them but really want to try the Michelin power purrs myself based on Triple's post above!
