Steering damper Q.
Have searched, maybe ive missed it but at the risk of sounding a numpty and with all the pricey dampers around whats to stop me changing the steering damper oil for a slightly heavier one?

Sure you can do that. I haven't looked at the damper closely yet as I have an Ohlins that I'll be installing soon.
I have heard of it being done to R1 dampers though, with mixed results.
This bike needs more damping that it has stock for sure.

Can't believe no one has tried this yet or is it a complete no-no?

I guess as long as it wasn't a sealed unit and you had the tools to do so. I still have mine, it's laying in a box somewhere... haven't looked close enough to see if you can readily access the guts or not.

I tried that on a stock damper for my 675, and it did not work, at all.
Having the correct tool (an adjustable quality damper) that is adjustable.

Suzuki's have a plug on the unit that can be used to do this and it works very well but it's a pain to make changes to fine tune it unless you have lots of time.
I don't see a plug looking at the parts diagram but it may have one. I hope to change mine soon and may experiment with the stock unit.

I contacted Pitbull today as I had thier steering damper on my past 675. If they make and it seems they do, I'll see if one of our vendors can do a group buy or something.

Thanks guys, thought someone around the world might have tried it by now, i notice there is a circlip either end presumably holding the seals in. Bit dubious about having a go with no spare and if i did its winter here soon and getting out to try it under load would be a bit tricky (for me)

Well, if you try it and screw it up, I have one laying around in the garage that probably doesn't even have 400 miles of use on it.
