Default Ride to Skye

I just thought I'd share a few photos with you guys which I took during a ride to see a mate who'd moved from Yorkshire to Skye. The whole trip was done on my own on my pretty standard S1k and for the 1030 mile round trip it never missed a beat.Unfortunately this being the UK it pissed it down with rain for almost every mile I covered.
The scenery between Loch Lomond and my mate's place at the far end of Skye is as good as you'll find anywhere on the planet. Simply stunning. Unfortunately I was so cold on the way back that I was either flying at warp speed or crouching by the side of the road with my gloved fingers down the exhaust pipe. I had to keep stopping roughly every 10 miles to do this as I simply couldn't feel my hands. It took me 7.5 hours to go from my mate's place in Skye to my folks place just south of Glasgow and by the time I got to my folks place I was in the early stages of hypothermia. Seriously. I had high quality Gericke Gore-Tex winter jacket and pants and excellent winter gloves but the weather beat everything.
I would do it again but only in July or August. If any of you hear me planning to ride to a Hebridean island in October again slap me and hide my keys

Anyway, here are a few pics.

Those pics remind me of home and they are a lot like my ex wife, rugged, beautiful and very cold...

Well done m8, that is a bit of a hike...oh, I just came down from the Isle of Skye, I'm not very big but I'm awful shy. All the lassies cry as I walk by "Donald, where's yer troosers?"

Couldn`t resist..

I have but I didn't expect it to be quite so cold. The problem was that my gloves were saturated and the windblast chilled the water. I think the only things that would help are either the hand guards from my old GS or a pair of muffs. Neither work well with the S1k.

It is indeed Duck Bay LL and it also sounds very much like my ex wife too!
