Default Cat and Fiddle cameras now switched on!!

Well Motorcycle News reported that finally the Cat and Fiddle road cameras are now switched on

I'm not so sure as I keep seeing dibble there. Why would dibble be sat there policing the area if we had operational specs cameras?? Makes you think!!

Anyway I can vouch that they were not on last month. Well Iv'e not had a ticket yet. Not that I go mad but I'm sure I average over 50mph.

The Cat and Fiddle is perhaps the best road in the UK (backlash expected) well it is in our area and we get visitors from all over just to ride the few miles of highly demanding twisties. I met a chap and his crew for Ireland there last week!

I love the Cat and really learnt to ride my bikes there years ago. If you are a comitted knee dragger like me then the C&F will do you fine, just don't get it wrong or your more than likely down the ditch with sheep for company.

I often do the C&F on my way to Matlock Bath where many hundreds of bikes and machines meet at the weekend. We have some great roads in the North West.

Wales also has some fab runs too. Not been to Scotland but I bet they are superb up there. Going to Wales this weekend for a weeks tour of the West and South West England and onto Cornwall and Newqay, Bournemouth, Bath and home.
Really looking forward to that.

Sounds like it's time for someone to "switch them off"

Britain's surveillance society disturbs me greatly. It's as if they're using 1984 as a road map, instead of a warning. The reason it disturbs me so, is that I fully expect us to follow suit on this side of the pond.

It doesn't really do anything for public safety, as far as I know.

That sucks. I've only ever done the Cat and Fiddle once but it was a nice ride. They claim that these cameras are for safety but I do not feel safe in these hotspots. Drivers spend their time looking at their speedo rather than paying attention to what's around them on the road.

I've used Snake Pass a bit more often, (though not since last 'summer'), and it too is getting full of plod. It is a nice ride down to Ladybower Res on a nice sunny day but it does also attract a lot of cagers.
I must try Matlock Bath this year.

Great I love the Snake pass but as you say full of plod. They have an open back camera van there most weekends just as you crest over a hill

The other problem is the road surface, being high land it gets really battered by frost and snow, the surface is a knightmare in places and they just spot repair it.

Rode the Snake about 2 weeks ago on my way to Mam Tor, Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock Bath. Great run. Took these snaps at lady Bower resevoir as I rested just over the concrete bridge

Nice pics!
Last time I was down there I parked in almost exactly the same spot and about 10 mins after I parked two vans full of plod turned up! I've no idea why because that is a straight section of road going towards the lights on one side and further down the res on the other. Perhaps they were on lunch or something and wanted to eat in pretty surroundings !

You do indeed! I'm from Hamilton so I know some good roads up there. I've been in exile down here for the last 14 years. Some awesome roads down here in this neck of the woods too. Snake and the Cat & Fiddle are 2 shining examples.
